Living in a fallen world

· God called Abraham to Canaan

· How do I honor God in my life decisions when I life in a land of Pagans?

Make a list of Non-negotiables.

What MUST be true about my decisions in order to honor God?

If possible, this list should be done before the fact.

Do it all for the Glory of God

What can we learn from Abraham’s non-negotiables?

Honor God not man.

Swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and God of earth (verse 3)

Do not be unequally yoked.

Do not find a wife for Isaac in Canaan (verse 3-4)

This was about a 21-day journey.

When you set your heart on Honoring God

You will find the patience to wait on the Lord.

Extra effort will be worth it.

You will not be tempted by shortcuts.

Do not consider contradictions to what God has said or what God is doing.

Do not take Isaac back (verse 7)

Let God open the doors.

“God will send an angel before you” (verse 7)

Leave room for NO.

If…then you are free from my oath.

God’s answer to prayers:

Yes, No, Not Yet

Maybe its not as good for you as you think.

Maybe God has something better planned for you.

Maybe God just wants to bless someone else right now.

It is not about me
