Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
(520-518 BC)
Introduction:
What would we do if Jesus came to our town?
Jesus walked all the way from Galilee, he din’t need to ride the last two miles.
He rode in on the donkey to fulfill prophecy and to present himself as the King.
So when Jesus came to town for “the Triumphal Entry” it was another declaration that Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ—the King of the Jews.
The people, religious leaders, and state leaders had to decide what they were going to do with Jesus as he claimed his rightful place as King of everything and everyone.
