Accountability… What is it?

Accountable: subject to the obligation to report, explain, or justify something; responsible;answerable.
1 Corinthians 13:11 KJV 1900
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
When does God hold us accountable for obeying His word?
What must happen before we obey?
God must call us… How does He do that?
God speaks to our heart… He is always looking for someone who will live for Him and worship Him in spirit and in truth
John 4:23–24 KJV 1900
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Genesis 1:1–3 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
The Spirit of God always accompanies the Word of God
The call of God in our life is the most important decision we will ever make… it is not to be taken lightly
Genesis 1:1 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
What do we know about the Word of God?
Hebrews 4:12 AMP
12 For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

Matthew 13:3–9 KJV 1900
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: 5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. 9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 13:18–23 KJV 1900
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. 20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. 22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. 23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
This parable is a picture of all of humanities response to the call of God … His Spirit and His Word reaching out to all mankind
We can apply this parable to every situation that God deals with our heart no matter where or what situation we are in
The call of God in our life should not be from man or in obedience to man… but it should come from a conviction from the Spirit of God directly moving on our heart in response to His Spirit and His Word… that is the only call that will last a lifetime
Matthew 13:4 KJV 1900
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Matthew 13:19 KJV 1900
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
mt 13.19
Why does God interact with our heart?
Because He wants a heart response from us… He loves us and he wants us to fall in love with Him
