Part 1-Ice Breaker

Have each member share their name, occupation and anything they wish to share about themselves.

Fact or fiction?

Ask everyone to write on a piece of paper THREE things about themselves which may not be known to the others in the group. Two are true and one is not. Taking turns they read out the three ‘facts’ about themselves and the rest of the group votes which are true and false. There are always surprises. This simple activity is always fun, and helps the group and leaders get to know more about each other.

https://www.faithlifetv.com/media/593901

What does this mean to be holy?

God’s chosen people, in separation from the world, are called to an ethical life in conformity to His revealed word. The command to His people is to “be holy; for I am holy

When we sin we break God’s laws and thus we are rebelling against Him. Even the old testament letter speaks to the punishment associated with sin.

What is the penalty for sin?

Read Gen 3:19, Rom 6:23
Genesis 3:19 KJV 1900
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Romans 6:23 KJV 1900
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The Penalty of sin
++Effects the present
++Effect the eternal
++Death or Separation
Matthew 10:28 KJV 1900
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

++Loves us

How did God show his Love for us?

Romans 5:8 KJV 1900
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 John 4:9–10 KJV 1900
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Who is Jesus Christ?

Discuss these questions:
++Is he God? or Is he Man?
++What Did the lesson teach about Jesus Christ?

What happened to Jesus on the Cross?

What does it mean to say we are saved “by grace” Eph 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-5

Ephesians 2:8–9 KJV 1900
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Titus 3:4–5 KJV 1900
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Name three things that will become a regular part of your life if you are to glorify God?

++Meet regularly with other Christians
Hebrews 10:24–25 KJV 1900

What is a disciple suppose to do?

Read Mat 10:24-25, Luke 6:40
Matthew 10:24–25 KJV 1900
24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
Luke 6:40 KJV 1900
40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
The goal of a disciple is to be like his master.
