Introduction

They simply kept hearing: “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith he once tried to destroy.” 24 And they glorified God because of me.
23 They simply kept hearing: “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith he once tried to destroy.” 24 And they glorified God because of me.
Glorified - They glorified (ἐδοξαζον [edoxazon]). Imperfect, kept on doing it. In me (ἐν ἐμοι [en emoi]). In my case as in 1:16.

A Glorifying Life is One of Testimony

testimony is who people see you are… not what you tell them
They simply kept hearing: “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith he once tried to destroy.”
of repentance
not acknowledgement, or being sorry
not even to turn from…
illustrate - atheist turning to agnostic
must be turning from sin to God
Seeing a soul go from Heaven to Hell
Paul’s testimony is amazing
Easy to think your’s is boring
there is no such thing
A soul coming from Hell to Heaven
preaching the gospel
no longer persecuting
the fruit of our lives will show the repentance in our hearts
repentance is not a one time thing, but a life of humility
preaching the faith…
used in sense of “the gospel” as in
Praise for lost souls now going to heaven
Praise for God’s victory

A Glorifying Life is One of Evangelism

Paul did not go back to fight against those who he learned from
that was not his calling
he proclaimed the gospel to those who were not allowed in the temple - the gentiles
The calling of every believer is to make disciples… throughout the world.
starting in our community… as you go
Missions, after all, is simply this: Every heart with Christ is a missionary, every heart without Christ is a mission field."
Missions, after all, is simply this: Every heart with Christ is a missionary, every heart without Christ is a mission field."
in our country
praise God we live where we do with the freedoms we have,
evangelism is not passing “christian laws”
we are not trying to convert people to a political party
Our Praise the gospel is proclaimed in not just if people accept, but that God is being glorified through the preaching of His word
local churches
our community
our country
the world

A Glorifying Life is One of Reverence

And they glorified God because of me.
It is not Paul that is glorified
we must be humble enough to understand that it is not us who does any of this...
I do not preach on my own authority or even a message I am creative enough to preach
Any good from me is all from the Father.
When we live for God we see that we get less credit… that is a good thing
people see God
that is what we want
You and I can look like hypocrites
do not hide that, use that in your evangelism…
no I’m not perfect, nobody is… it is something we have in common
Greg Stier illustration speaking to a lesbian
If this is how you live, you will see the desire of Count Zindendorf come true…
Preach the gospel, die and be forgotten
