The Sufficiency of Grace

2 Corinthians 12:9–10 KJV 1900
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Last week we looked our our response when God says No!

God know who is his
God knows what is happening
++God planned out for you

The Focus of God

God Declares
++The end from the beginning
Isaiah 46:10 KJV 1900
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times the things that are not yet done, Saying, My counsel shall stand, And I will do all my pleasure:
God Declares
The end from the beginning
++Things not yet so
Romans 4:17 KJV 1900
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

A declaration from God changes everything.

With one word in the midst of darkness and void God speaks

Let there be....

When God Speaks
++Darkness gives way to light
++Seas separate to bring forth land
++Life happenes
++Everything listens
John 1:1–4 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5 KJV 1900
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Faithfulness of God

The Temptations of life
++May feel personal
++Common to man
1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV 1900
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Job 14:1 KJV 1900
1 Man that is born of a woman Is of few days, and full of trouble.
When you are trouble
++God is There
++God knows what you can take
++God tempers trouble to your ability
1 Corinthians 10:13 ...who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able..
When the trouble comes we are sometimes to quick to rebuke it
When you are tempted
++God adds a little something
++He provided an escape plan.
1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV 190013 ...will with the temptation _also make a way to escape_
Without the temptation you would not get _the escape plan_
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV 1900
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
The escape plan
++is is not to get you out of the problem
++Is not to make you comfortable
++Enables you to endure
2 Corinthians 12:10 KJV 1900
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
God
++Did not remove the weakness
++Did not fix his issue
++Left the issue in place
Sometimes our biggest holdup to our breakthrough is that we are waiting on God to remove the issue, the problem, the circumstance, the situation.
We say God if you just remove this or fix this then I could serve you.
If you are waiting on things to change before you trust God… things will never change.
God is God, alone. He doesn’t need anything outside of himself to be God.
Just as Paul needed grace
We need Grace
++to trust God
++to believe
Zechariah 4:7 KJV 1900
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: And he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

God’s Grace doesn’t give you the strength of God.

God’s Grace reveals that your strength
++Is not strengthen or weakened by the problems
++God empower you
++Even when you are weak _You are Strong_
