Matthew 3:13–17 KJV 1900
13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

"We ought to regard the sacrament of baptism with reverence. An ordinance of which the Lord Jesus Himself partook, is not to be lightly esteemed. An ordinance to which the great Head of the Church submitted, ought to be ever honorable in the eyes of professing Christians."

15 Quotes About Baptism

📷📷📷 "A man who knows that he is saved by believing in Christ does not, when he is baptized, lift his baptism into a saving ordinance. In fact, he is the very best protester against that mistake, because he holds that he has no right to be baptized until he is saved."
- Charles Spurgeon Topics: Baptism
"Baptism is an outward expression of an inward faith."
- Watchman Nee Topics: Faith, Baptism
"Baptism is the initial step of a faithful heart."
- Max Lucado Topics: Baptism
"Baptism with water is the sign and seal of baptism with the Spirit, as much as it is of the forgiveness of sins. Water-baptism is the initiatory Christian rite, because Spirit-baptism is the initiatory Christian experience."
- John Stott Topics: Baptism
"After many painful trials, which none can know, but those who are taught to relinquish a system in which they had been educated, I settled down in the full persuasion, that the immersion of a professing believer in Christ is the only Christian baptism."
- Adoniram Judson Topics: Baptism
"Is it possible for an unbaptized believer to be saved? Yes, definitely. Should every believer be baptized? Yes, definitely."
- Max Lucado Topics: Baptism
"After many painful trials, which none can know, but those who are taught to relinquish a system in which they had been educated, I settled down in the full persuasion, that the immersion of a professing believer in Christ is the only Christian baptism."
- Adoniram Judson Topics: Baptism
"Baptism separates the tire kickers from the car buyers."
- Max Lucado Topics: Baptism
""Baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: there are three distinct persons: in the Name, not names; there is one essence."
- Thomas Adams Topics: Baptism, The Trinity
"God's people should be baptized because God commanded it, not because some church requires it."
- John R. Rice Topics: Baptism
"Baptism is faith in action."
- Watchman Nee Topics: Faith, Baptism
"Baptism is bowing before the Father and letting him do his work."
- Max Lucado Topics: Baptism
"Tragically, some people believe they are going to heaven when they die just because a few drops of water were sprinkled over their heads a few weeks after their birth. They have no personal faith, have never made a personal decision, and are banking on a hollow ceremony to save them. How absurd."
- Max Lucado Topics: Baptism, Heresy
"We ought to regard the sacrament of baptism with reverence. An ordinance of which the Lord Jesus Himself partook, is not to be lightly esteemed. An ordinance to which the great Head of the Church submitted, ought to be ever honorable in the eyes of professing Christians."
- J. C. Ryle
Water Baptism is very important. It is our public declaration to the world that we have made this covenant with the Lord. We have pledged our allegiance to the Lord. We are also following the Lord’s example.

The clearest example that shows the meaning of baptizo is a text from the Greek poet and physician Nicander, who lived about 200 B.C. It is a recipe for making pickles and is helpful because it uses both words. Nicander says that in order to make a pickle, the vegetable should first be 'dipped'(bapto) into boiling water and then 'baptised' (baptizo) in the vinegar solution. Both verbs concern the immersing of vegetables in a solution. But the first is temporary. The second, the act of baptising the vegetable, produces a permanent change. When used in the New Testament, this word more often refers to our union and identification with Christ than to our water baptism. There must be a union with him, a real change, like the vegetable to the pickle!

2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Water Baptism is all about showing on the outside what Christ has done on the inside. We stand in the water as the old man or woman before we came to Christ. The life full of sin and regret and most importantly separated from our God. We go down and crucify the old man and come up a brand new creation. As if the world is new again. As if our God has breathed the breath of life into us anew. He has. This reconciliation to God we felt when we came to the cross is what we feel as we come up from the water.
1 Corinthians 12:13 ESV
13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:13
We all have different backgrounds, different experiences, and different expectations. We are all unique. You can easily look around and wonder how could we be one body? This is what is so cool about our God. He brings us into one body. Jesus Christ is our common goal. His passion for the lost, to rescue all of humanity from grip of hell is also our passion. He is our head. He is our great High Priest. He is our loving and gentle pastor. We will follow His leading to see His will fulfilled in our lives and the lives our community.
The disciples understood this. They preached where ever they went. Sometimes it was in the town square. Sometimes it was in a house. Sometimes it was in a jail. They never let an opportunity pass by.
Acts
Acts 2:41 ESV
41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Peter had a very busy day with baptizing 3,000 people.
Cornelius’ family got saved and recieved the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Jews were so shocked that Gentiles could receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit that Peter went on to say.......
Acts 10:47–48 ESV
47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.
: 47-48
Acts 16:33 ESV
33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.
Here is the jailer. He and his family were saved that night and then baptized.

Acts 16:33 ESV
33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.
