Philippians one recap!
Philippians 1:6 ESV
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Paul prays for them to grown in:
Love
Knowledge
Discernment
Paul had a reason to rejoice - Christ is proclaimed

Philippians 1:19–20 ESV
for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.
Philippians 1:21 ESV
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
*What does it mean to live?
For Paul to live is Christ - Christ is everything!
To die is gain
Die:
Gain: Advantage or benefit
Paul viewed death as a gain or benefit!
He would be with him for eternity.
Philippians 1:22 ESV
If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.

Fruitful labor?
What is your definition of fruitful labor?

I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.

People should progress and increase in joy in the faith.

Glory: A reason for boasting
Paul wanted them to know that if he was able to see them face to face again they could boast in Christ.
The hand of God on our life should cause people around us to talk about the goodness of Jesus.
