Joy of ordaining pastor Moses.
Pastoring- the importance.
I think back and realize that without men like Moses, who Fathered me, I would not be here today.
Pastors know- and they keep things they keep secret.
Pastors pray- and often care about your well-being more than you do.
Pastors suffer- men of God don’t get rich pastoring. Work harder than anyone else. Suffer the brunt of the spiritual attack. They feed sheep, and often sheep bite. We expect the world to harm us and wound us, but pastors are most often wounded by their flock. Yet they continue to love them and serve them
Pastors give an account to God. - they will answer for every word and deed. This is what keeps them awake at night.
It has been said that pastors are servants to their congregation, but the congregation is not the Pastor’s master for they only have 1 master- The Lord Himself!
As we ordain any man or woman, we must test them and make sure they live according to the ways God lays out.
We have tested Moses. I have prayed, I have sought the Lord.
I came and observed.
Moses is a man of God. And the Spirit of God and we have found him worthy.
Say a word about submission- we are submitted and Moses has chosen submission. We honor that and take the responsibility very seriously
Charge to Moses-
Jesus as the example:
Jesus came full of grace and truth-
Do not be out of balance with one or the other.
If you only act out of grace- your flock will become lazy and disobedient. They will not fear the lord nor live Holy.
If you only act out of truth- your flock will become discouraged, and begin to work their way into salvation which will lead to frustration as with the law. They will become embittered and malnourished, never receiving the joy of their salvation.
Trust the Lord for guidance in how to balance the 2.
Pastor Scott once spoke these words: We as pastors don’t give people what they deserve. We give them what they need like a true father in order for them to mature and grow. Likewise do this Moses and your sheep will grow strong in love and maturity. Also your reward will be great.
Teach the true Gospel-
Your primary role is to ensure the whole counsel of God is being taught.
Paul as the example:
Pauls final exhortation to the elders in Ephesus-
It is good for you Moses to live this charge out!
First he lived as an example among the people-
Serve the Lord with humility-
Humility is our safe guard and our rest.
Paul had his thorn in the flesh- the Lord nay give you thorns, do not reset them, but know they are to protect you and clothe you with humility that you may not be disqualified from the very Gospel you have preached.
teach the full counsel of God.
Not that every sermon would be the same, but let the Word of God give your meaning, don’t give your meaning to the word of God.
Teach Jesus the Kingdom of God as it declares Paul did in the final words in this chapter.
Jesus died for our sins and became sin!
Jesus resurrected from the dead and ascended to Heaven.
He sent the Spirit of God to live in us and come upon us for the sake of the world and fulfilling the Great commission.
The Kingdom of God is God’s rule and reign on earth as it is in Heaven.
Teach this Gospel and demonstrte this Gospel through signs and wonders as the Spirit allows.
Finally, Care for your flock and safe guard them from wolves.
As you reach the city, you will be given babes in the faith who can be led astray by passing doctrines.
Guard them and raise them up as your own children that your reward may be great and your church may flourish.
3 Charges to the Church-
First Obey your pastor-
17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
The New King James Version. (1982). (). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.
Second- pray for your pastor-
The demands are unknowable except to those who have heeded the call.
Third- love their precious family-
Amie and Favor are dear to the Lord. As is their coming child. Care for them as your own.
Word to Amie-
In America, they say every good man has a great woman behind him.
Moses is a great man and that means he has a superb woman behind him.
You have blessed me and my team. I see how loved you are here. You have touched so many lives and Moses would agree with me that he could not do any of this without you. Thank you for your service, your care and being the mother in this church! You are loved nd we honor you today as well!
Moses come forward-
Do you commit to uphold the truth of Jesus Christ, preach the true Gospel, live Holy and blameless, and feed the sheep here in this church with all faithfulness as the Spirit helps?
If so say I do
Church, Do you commit to lift the hands of Moses in prayer as the Israel Nation lifted the Hands of the Prophet Moses, obey Moses, and care for him and his family as he leads you faithfully into the promised land.
If so say We do.
Moses by the authority given me by God, by our overseer Apostle Steve Steinberg and the pastoral staff of All Nations Church, I now ordain you as a servant of God.
Call pastors up and his family up, we pray for them and prophecy.
Celebrate with worship
