Introduction

Introduction
Somewhere in all of us as adults is the remembrance of our most memorable hurts, our first breakup, the time when someone betrayed us or lied on us, maybe said things about us that were not true. Yes, nestled in our memory banks are the memories of those situations that we find to be so painful when it happed, we thought we would never love or trust again.
The Bible says that we that we walk by faith and not by sight, and in that without faith it is impossible to please God. What does this mean in our everyday lives, what do those scriptures have to do with the text that we have just read and that we will be studying this morning.
Jesus commands his disciples to love not as they love, but as he has loved.
He takes the Greatest commandment and as he so often does takes the requirements of the law up a notch to show the difference between living by the Law which leads to death, and living by the power of the spirit, which is accomplished by faith.
Love
Agapeo (God type of Love) Highest Moral Love, a Love that always does what is right for the right reasons and purpose, a selfless love.
This means that Christ demonstration of Love is the truest example of Love.
Love and Faith
Betrayal
Denial
Tucked in this statement are two situations that guide us to understanding what this looks like from a practical example standpoint.
Behind Jesus statement is the upcoming betrayal, from Judas and in front of this statement is the soon coming denial from Peter and the (Crucifixion)/ unfair death) pronounced by his own people.
Jesus knows that Judas is going to betray him
Judas is still embraced and isn’t judged before hand and allowed to act out without retaliation from the Lord Jesus
Jesus knows with absolute perfect foreknowledge that Peter is going to deny him, and that so many others are going to run and cower with fear.
that so many others are going to run and cower with fear.
But yet he washed both their feet, and he shares and intimate meal with them. He even invites Peter to participate in his personal private prayer time before his crucifixion.
How do we deal with betrayal and denial ?
Betrayal is a lie, fake, it carries with it some the most negative perspectives in regards to human behavior and conduct
Denial hits hard that an unexpected punch to the stomach, that seeming will never go away
When learn to Love others as Christ has loved us the first mind transformation that awaits us, is that our display of selfless love is first and foremost driven by our Love for Jesus, the one who selflessly loved us first.
Glorifying God in our Bodies by Loving UP!
Jesus is about to Glorify the Father and be Glorified by the father because his obedience to the Father This obedience is manifested by his sacrificial love Loving individual through the difficulties of life to accomplish the goal of the Father
· Jesus isn’t Glorified because of his massive following
· He isn’t Glorified because of his Great financial stature
· He isn’t Glorified because all the known world at the time thinks he’s the greatest
· No Facebook or twitter followers to justify or validate his appeal
What brought Glory to the Father & ultimately to Jesus
· Loving when it hurts
· Loving when life is not fair
· Loving or friends and enemies when they are not at their best
· Loving when attacked and persecuted
Living by Faith = Loving as Christ Loves
Ultimately Jesus Love for the Father, is demonstrated by his trust and obedience to his will which is (Living by Faith)
This is our example on how to Love as he Loved us
We are called to obey God and Love others despite their behaviors towards, others and towards us. This is not a love with out accountability or rewards and consequences.
God’s Love is a love that seeks the highest good of others and pushes us to do what is best for them even when it is uncomfortable and unfavorable in the eye of the World
We pick up our Cross and we do what is right because of Love
There were multiple reasons for Jesus to say forgets this, I am not dying for them, look at how they treat me.
His Love for us through the father went pass our rebellion, our betrayal and our denial of him.
Rom 5:8
This how we should love other, not as we love ourselves in our fallen nature, because we cannot love ourselves correctly outside of Jesus Christ and the Power of the Holy Spirit , So we therefor should love others as Christ love us!
While we were yet sinner’s betrayer, backstabbers, and deniers of his Love Christ by Faith in the Fathers plan died for us the Ungodly.
We all secretly want the Glory, God has given his Glory to his Son Jesus and allows us to experience his Glory when we do his will.
Conclusion
True Biblical Love is upward bound and it loves others especially believers with the same love that Jesus displayed in his sacrifice for us. It is when we show this love consistently to those who are in need that we prove we are true disciples of Jesus Christ
