Intro: Read Proverbs 14:1

I am not a woman
But I have watched Christian mothers, Christian Ladies, Christian wives
I have watched my own mother as she sang in the choir and my brother ran around or sat and learned to sing with her
I have watched my own wife as she prays with my little daughter or reads to her from her toddler Bible after a long day
I have watched my sisters in Christ, tirelessly invest in children that the world wants nothing to do with, give them rides to church, take them out to McD’s; lead them to Christ, teach them, cry with them, pray with them, and some of them are here now sitting in a pew with their own family
I see sweat, exhaustion, emotion, joy, sorrow, heart break, hallelujahs, hospitals, diapers, late nights, prayer, breaking points, and joyous occasions
Wouldn’t it be a blessing if we could know that after the sweat, the tears, the prayers, the years, the cooking, the cleaning, the working, the school, the juggling, the diapers, the teenagers that there would be something that was built
Wouldn’t it be equally as terrible to look and realize rather than built up there was actually something that once stood erect and high, but we were the guilty party that tore it down
Reread Proverbs 14:1

1) A Proper Relationship with her Lord ()

-Your own personal walk with the LORD
-14:11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
-Notice the wicked has a house, but the upright have a tabernacle
-One signifies in the OT as a place of worship, of holiness, of sacrifice, of God’s presence.
-Keep a close look at your personal walk with Christ ()
-As wives and mothers, you can be so busy that you begin to backslide and this ultimately leads to an emptiness and unsatisfied spirit
The satisfaction found in the verse only comes from your personal walk with Jesus Christ. “A good man shall be satisfied from himself.”
Notice it is not from your husband and your relationship with him
Not from you children’s performance and behavior
No it is from being Godly yourself; it is from your own walk and closeness to the Saviour
-A Pure Relationship
Proverbs 14:2 KJV 1900
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
is there a perverse way you are walking, is there part of your life that despises God and his word
-A Persuaded Relationship
Proverbs 14:26 KJV 1900
In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: And his children shall have a place of refuge.
A spiritual woman, standing on the blood of Jesus Christ, walking in the Spirit can walk in the prison cells, can witness to hardened criminals, can softly and tearfully plead with those who are backslidden
(Tammy Berain)
is there something you are fearing greater than the Lord that is stealing you confidence?
-A PRIVATE RELATIONSHIP

Privacy (Proverbs 14:10)

“The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth no intermeddle with his joy” (Proverbs 14:10). “What man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him?” (1 Corinthians 2:11). People are individuals. Hannah knew the great sorrow of her barrenness but an unsympathetic priest (Eli) who did not know her heart, rebuked her (1 Samuel 1:10–14). You may often be misunderstood and misjudged because people cannot read your heart. The emphasis on individuality says we must all make our personal decision to follow the Lord.

Proverbs 14:11 KJV 1900
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: But the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
A PROPER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER LORD

2) A Proper Respect of her Leader ()

-Support your husband as he uses his strengths by helping his weaknesses
-14:4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
-Do not devalue his strengths by focusing and amplifying his weaknesses
build through grace and truth not criticism
Proverbs 12:4 KJV 1900
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
do not use criticism, shame, demands and control ; they are not helping your marriage
He does not need you as his mommy and his teacher and his holy spirit
a man views his world through respect
a wifes softened tone and facial expressions can do more for her marriage than she can imagine
“What if your son grew up and married someone like you?”
-Do not allow laziness, but acknowledge the increase
-Do not despise him in your heart
2 Samuel 6:16 KJV 1900
And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.
she missed the ark for the dancing; she sought to exploit rather than support
He was coming home to bless his house and she missed the blessing
2 Samuel 6:20–22 KJV 1900
Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord. And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
2 samuel 6:2
-Recognize his weakness and support rather than infuriate
David’s wife asked for the crazy cycle when she despised him in her heart
-Is what I am about to say or do going to come accross as respectful or disrespectful?
-Oxen are really good at pulling, not so much cleaning
-These powerful beasts can out-pull a big team of horses. In fact, while a team of oxen can pull its own body weight at a walking pace, for short bursts of six to eight feet, a well-trained team of oxen can pull up to 2!-W times their body weight — or as much as 12,000 to 13,000 pounds.
-Stop going with the world and playing the comparison game; focus on enabling each other by encouraging strengths and supporting weaknesses
REREAD
proverbs 14:4
Proverbs 14:4 KJV 1900
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: But much increase is by the strength of the ox.
Ephesians 5:33 KJV 1900
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
A PROPER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER LORD
A PROPER RESPECT OF HER LEADER

3) A Proper Readiness of her Little Ones (, )

Give wisdom to the simple
-,
-Your children will come to you for answers
-If you have not been led by the Lord through decisions, if you have not besought God and had him intervene; how can you guide the simple that come to a bridge that you yourself have never crossed?
Proverbs 9:13 KJV 1900
A foolish woman is clamorous: She is simple, and knoweth nothing.
-instagram, snapchat, and social media have their place; but much time spent on these make poor preparation to mold the future generation
CLAMOROUS, adjective Speaking and repeating loud words; noisy; vociferous; loud; turbulent.
-Teach them to look well to their going (vs 15)
Who should they marry?
Where should they live?
How do they deal with emotions?
I don’t know…
Well what do we know ( dealeth with knowledge)
-Teach them to seek prudence and knowledge (vs 18).
How do they answer life’s hard questions?
How can they make what they have last?
Cautious; circumspect; practically wise; careful of the consequences of enterprises, measures or actions; cautious not to act when the end is of doubtful utility, or probably impracticable
1. Dictated or directed by prudence; as prudent behavior.
2. Foreseeing by instinct; as the prudent crane.
A prudent man forseeth evil and hideth himself...
3. Frugal; economical; as a prudent woman; prudent expenditure of money.
4. Wise; intelligent.
Vs 1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars
Vs 2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; when hath also furnished her table.
9:3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
9:4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither, as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
9:5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
9:6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
-Mothers are called to lead their children and others like the wise woman to forsake the foolish and live, and go in the way of understanding.
-How can mothers do this if they themselves are involved in foolishness
-Or if they themselves do not understand
-Note the work that this takes ; she prepares her home, she prepares a feast, then she sends the invitation, all for a cause, all to help those who are simple, those who do not know the way of wisdom and understanding, she uses the what God has given her, and her abilities to welcome, house, feed all with the purpose of winning the simple
Notice 9:13-18 the foolish woman
She has no house, no feast, nothing to invite people to
Yet she invites people to that which is stolen (vs 17)
To do things in secret (vs 17)
She has no interest in using any of her resources or work to teach the simple understanding, she is only interested in the fleshly here and now which steals from the present.
-Laziness; not a home builder
-Lack of planning; no feast prepared
-No message; no message of wisdom and understanding for the simple
Calls people who already are going right on their ways (vs 15) to wrong paths
Whereas the wise woman calls those who are simple and not on the right path to the path of understanding.
