Are you heard the two scripture this morning from Luke 24:36 249 and Hosea 6 1 through 3 and this morning's sermon as you are witnesses and to what? Do we Are Witnesses into what is a lot of things we can bear witness to and do bear witness to if you look on Facebook nowadays, we'd like to post lots of stuff. We like to post things about our lives would like to post family pictures and different events that happened. So we're bearing witness to was happening happening in our families. We are also bear witness to other things on Facebook and other things on the internet and Internet Posting a social media and those are not so positive things. Those are more negative things. But sometimes we like to post what we don't like and so we're bearing witness to those things that we don't like till it. Sometimes we post more good things then negative things more as a good person or the good things happening in our lives and sometimes we posed more negative things. And so people start to see a different kind of I said more negative us and more negative things that are happening in our lives so it can make us look a particular way. We present ourselves in public. By how we speak about things how we speak about ourselves and how we speak and bear witness to other things around us. And so this particular passage is about who, you know, Jesus coming to his disciples afterward and we we went through the passage on the road to Emmaus and this is right after the road to Emmaus. And so you have these two guys going to Jerusalem and meeting with the 11 meeting with the women and and and they're going to this group and then telling them about, you know, Jesus appeared to them and this is what happens after the fact and so Jesus appears to them he comes to them and you know, the two Journeymen on the road to Emmaus and and here is Jesus and he comes in peace to you. Peace be with you. This is the same terminology that that that's all throughout the Middle East and it's a common saying as a common Middle Eastern saying whether that's in Hebrew shalom alechem. Is it is the same in Aramaic as assalamualaikum? It's the same words the matter. If you're speaking in Hebrew or in Arabic, they are the same and all throughout the Middle Eastern cultures and languages you have this common sang. This is what you do. When you go to somebody's house. The first thing you say to them is peace be with you or peace to you. This is where it comes from and this is how Jesus uses it and it's a little different and Aramaic but it's the pronunciation is a little worse for me. So I'm not going to do that one, but but but this is a normal occurrence. It's not like it's normal for Jesus to appear after he's been dead for a while and just up here before people. This is not normal. Jesus uses these, peace be with you and even when he appears to Mary in the garden, he says greetings. High like it's a normal like he just shows up and like it's normal for it for a dead guy to just appear before people. It's not normal. And so that they think they're nursing a ghost. They're seeing a spirit of Jesus. They think they're seeing a spirit of Jesus Spirit of a dead person who's hunting them. They're afraid they are afraid. This isn't a normal thing. It says it's not a normal thing for us. I mean how many dead person is the people that you were familiar with in the past? How many of those people have appeared to you as a ghost?

So they're afraid and then Jesus comes to them and he says peace to you and one thing that always happens when when an angel comes or when it when a spirit from God comes. The first thing they have to do is call in peace. It's like it's okay calm down for a bit. Like I want to tell you something but you have to be calm for me to explain it to you to be able to tell you what's going on. When the Angels come they did say glory to God in the highest. So, you know like Jesus is coming, but they had to tell the shepherd's to be the first right? They didn't want to scare them and run them off.

See the thing about ghosts ghosts aren't biblical. This understanding of dead people hunting other people after they are dead and gone. It's not biblical and what would its really referring to is a familiar spirit? And what a familiar spirit is is when the Demonic comes into a person's life in order to in order to tell them to go a certain way that is beyond price path to show them somebody that they have may be known before and trying to tell them something that is an untrue trying to lead them away from what God would have them to do. This has been done again. And I know I can talk about this later. But this is not what I want to get into for this morning sermon, if you need some scriptural references, if you need some theological guides about that particular fact because I know it is it is something that people don't often understand if you need more information about that just come to me afterwards.

Like I said demons often come as familiar spirits to lead people into downtown away from God. So here is what Jesus is trying to step in and do and he's trying to say look. I'm not a ghost. I am not a ghost. I am coming before you I am right here in front of you. He literally says it is me. It is me and I am here touched me. Talk to me look at me. And then he does a little bit more than that, right. He he asked them for food to prove that he is alive and well look goes do not eat. There is no way to go if it even with Apparition or or revision that you're having and so food doesn't not go anywhere. It does not go in and it doesn't get processed and it doesn't come out anywhere. Okay tell a ghost is not eat metal. Jesus is literally telling them look I am here in front of you. I'm proving to I am here I am with you and I meeting with you. And eating with someone that has this sign of breaking bread or having dinner with someone or sharing of food together is the fellowship in the life of having a relationship with someone. I mean Austin Even in our families, what is the number one? I know okay moms out there. I know you know this answer. What is the one place in your house where everyone seems to gather at some point? But I'll give you a hint. It's not the living room and the kitchen everybody comes to the kitchen. Everybody comes eventually to the kitchen table everybody shares in food and life the house and the kitchen at some point during food with each other and I love this when I was with my grandmother and her house and you know licking office spoons in the end of spackle is when she would go and make a cake or any of that kind of stuff that was one of the moments that I connected with her the most it was the moments where I connected the most with my mom and I should be in the kitchen and my brother and my sister be off goofing around somewhere, you know, and I'll go in the kitchen and I know I can go in and why she's she's making food and I can get a quick hug your email something from her so that the kitchen eating at the table is one of the one of the most connecting experiences in the family and that's what's going on here. The family got his coming together. And so they were they were so happy and amazed to see Jesus. I mean they were Overjoyed but yet the joint that they have an amazing things that they saw is not yet believe we can be amazed and overwhelmed and Overjoyed about things but joy does not equal believe there are two different things. We might say. Wow. That's awesome. But anyone out then have people say I remember this interview with Larry King. Okay, and Larry King did interviews on his shows for so many years that me decades now and he's up now retired and he would say, you know, like I'm Amazed by Jesus.

And I respect you this. But I don't believe Jesus I don't believe in Jesus. So he never acknowledged his belief in the faith, even though he was amazed and astounded by the things that Jesus did. I said well and being amazed and astounded and Overjoyed is not the same as having belief in Jesus.

Here in this passage. I mean Jesus had to go go over it again and with his disciples and he did this with the with the two guys on the road to Emmaus. He had to go back to the scripture dad to go back to the scriptures because the two guys were saying that he was a prophet and yeah and Jesus knows the hearts of the disciple, so he knows that they don't yet fully believe that he is the Messiah there still some doubts and some trouble in their hearts and it says it here in Scripture that Jesus had to go back and and he had to say everything must be fulfilled and it is written about me in the law of Moses the prophets in the Psalms and it says that their minds were yet not yet open. So is it also says this is what is written the Messiah was suffering rise from the dead on the third day and and repentance for the Forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to All Nations beginning in Jerusalem, and he goes through and Embarrassed goes through scripture with him again. Like he hasn't been in Ministry with them constantly for 3 years, and it's only been a few days. I mean, they haven't forgotten what would Jesus has preached, but maybe there were some Clues and they were missing. T even even peterhead

head review Jesus for even saying that he would have to die. He rebuked you this because he didn't yet understand the scriptures. So when Jesus came back and he's willing scripture to them these scriptures have new meaning and new life and new purpose for them. I mean we read the passage in Hosea 6 1 through 3, and even the even in that passage just reading that. Come let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to Pieces but he will heal us he is injured us but he will bind up our wounds and after two days, he will revive us after two days who were revived us and on the third day. He will restore us that we may live in his presence. And now you can you can take a literal interpretation to that and say that it's at every single person and I guess if you die than everybody supposed to come back in two or three days if you're going to take a literal interpretation, that's what it would be telling you. But Jesus is giving a new interpretation in New Life and new meaning to the scripture and saying New Life comes back to you through him. Who dies and on the third day he comes back and presents himself and proves that he is there before him by eating with them. By being with them by loving them by having them touch him his hand his feet his side. Funny thing about that you're putting your fingers in somebody sign. That's got to do something profound lie in your brain. To change some attitude that you have some interpretation of things. It's a visceral thing to Jesus has to go and explain the scriptures all over again to them and to be a fly on the wall. Like I I'm going to Seminary and I'm learning from other people and learning about their interpretations. I'm reforming my interpretation of scripture. This is all what happens in seminary. What did be in the room with Jesus says he sits there and explains every prophecy about the Messiah and how he's fulfill them. I mean it that that is the theology masterclass. I love to be in the room with them this thing is Hey, see, what happened in this passage? It doesn't tell you what Jesus said.

SOA go is a theologian. I'm going. Jesus why would you not have that in a Bible? Why would you not explain the verse for verse book for book in the Old Testament about who you are as the Messiah? And how you prove that all out.

So then I've got to think about the goodness of God. Some things are better learned on the journey. You can do you can explain to somebody what your road trip was like he take a trip across the United States maybe to a few different states and I can tell you what some of those Journeys are like, you know, when I went down to Georgia when I go to taxes and things like that and I even say those word, Georgia and Texas, but if you haven't been there then they don't have much meaning for you. And so sometimes when we try to explain things sometimes when we say something to someone it doesn't have the same meaning unless you've experienced it. and so Jesus and I've got to think I've got to think it's not in here because you just wants you to revisit. You've got all this before Jesus says this. Jesus wants you to revisit. Jesus wants you to know Jesus wants you to read for yourself.

Through the spirit through the Holy Spirit coming through you and informing and it's hurting helping helping you to interpret the passages by Jesus wants you to revisit. The scripture is just as he did. Jesus had to read the scripture where Jesus went to synagogue. He read he learned he made learn from people who had more knowledge than him. All right. But he had the Holy Spirit fully within and to inform the scriptures to interpret them.

So not only did he explain that scripture is but right after his explanations, he says you are witnesses of these things. And my these things I've been thinking he's got a mean look I'm standing before you it's me. I've been eating with you. I've been talking with you you have touched me. You have put your hands in my side and see what I'm saying. You are my Witnesses that's not enough for me to say, what's true. But if you come alongside somebody and and someone else is following you and then someone else is going to follow you and somebody else is going to follow you because you have fallen to Matt followed the master. This is what the ministry of multiplication is. This is why our Minister's go to Seminary. This is why we have ordination processes is because somebody was ordained because somebody or name down and that goes all the way back to Peter and Peter being called as a head of the church by Christ and Christ restoring him when he returned. Jesus commissioned all of his Believers. It wasn't just the 11 who were here, right? Who else was here the women were here? The two guys didn't know the guys that were walking along the road to Emmaus. They were here. So Jesus isn't just commissioning. The 12 Jesus is commissioning all who believe in him. The Great Commission isn't just for those who are ordained. The Great Commission isn't just for those who in lead or appointed leaders of us. The commission is for all of us. We all bear witness to what Christ has done in our lives and then other people's lives. Because we've seen that because we've experienced that.

Jesus witness came with evidence tenant deserves and demands some kind of an answer. Jesus said he would be raised in 3 days and he was raised in 3 days. How do I know that because Christ lives in me? And that's how I know that if you didn't live in me, I can't bear witness to it. I have if I haven't had experience of Christ being in my life and changing my life. I can bear witness to it. If you don't have the evidence and you don't have the experience of that. Come today. Ask today. Have that experience. pray to God No matter how many years you have been in this Faith No matter how many years you have been in the in the church. If you haven't experienced some things that other people have been saying I asked God. Because he he will do these things. He is one who gives abundantly right he gives out of the goodness and greatness of his heart and he wants to do that for you.

Jesus came representative evidence Who commissioned the disciples? All of them that were there. And then he had the 11 go with him to Galilee. up to the mountain

and I'm just to be there in two mentally with those who are closest with him. I would have been ministering with him for the last 3 years.

Then they understood Jesus differently. And don't just go and worship a guy.

You don't.

I want something has completely changed in your heart and in your life the way you interpret things the way you interpret the world changed. I just don't go and worship somebody.

It's not an easy thing. And then Jesus came and he gave all of the wordy which he had. He had authority over all things about of the heavens and the Earth and all Spiritual Beings. And then he says therefore go and make disciples of all Nations and All Nations doesn't mean political Authority and means all people of all kinds and all looks in all languages.

And baptizing them in the name of the father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything.

I have commanded you. And surely I am there with you always to the very end of the age. Jesus's is here with the disciples.

He's giving them comfort. Has he has to leave?

giving off the warranty to them and that's humbling. That's humbling. Not just them. Not just the them to us. Have you thought about that? Have you reread these versus have you read them this morning?

So this is Jesus who has all authority in heaven and on Earth and overall Spiritual Beings. And what is he telling you as his disciples? He's giving you

He's giving you all of it.

He's giving you the authority. Over Spiritual Beings over heavens and earth.

You are Sons and Daughters of the most high princes and princesses of the Kingdom. And you have authority to call things as they are. That's that's the thing about being a witness and being a witness. You're telling the truth to things as they are. Not as they not as the negatively are agates your interpretation of how negative things are but but calling and things into being and giving them life and encouragement and renewal language, right we can we can be condemning people all the time and we can be cursing people all the time. We do we do the words come out of our mouths at times and they just like pop out of our heads and out of our mouths and we call things as whatever we think we should call them.

I think about if your life was a life of blessing rather than cursing. every time and blessings popping out of your mouth your bearing witness to the good thing that it is rather than the negative thing negative thing you could be . Either moving toward the positive or you're moving to the night if there is no option here. It's one of the other and set a 3:15. It says but in your heart dear Christ is lord always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you had a reason for the hope that you have if you have no hope you can't give a reason for it, right? So we must have a hope and if we have a hope in Christ, and we give a reason for it. We have a witness for it. This is what we do and witnessing. We tell other people about Christ and gentleness.

Jonathan

share Jesus is giving a reaffirmation of the promise of the father. Cuz the father gave a promise a long time ago. That is Holy Spirit would not just stay with like one person here one person there and that's what happened with the prophets the Holy Spirit coming in entering the life and giving the word in for a particular time to a particular profit or a particular King and that's how the spirit works for the nation of Israel. I just moved from one person to the next person to the next person to next person eating the people of God. Something different is going to happen here. I will talk about that in the next couple of weeks. See the Holy Spirit comes in our into our lives and makes her witness effective.

How do we know that because Jesus told the disciples to stay? Jesus told the disciples to wait. God's promise was yet to come. It wasn't fully Done Yet given his life over and yes and made a way for repentance and forgiveness. But yet the Holy Spirit had not come until all their lives yet. This is within their time to wait. The holy spirit is an active and moving in your life if your time to wait. shirt under a sport But it's your time to wait. Got to make it happen. Shreveport

Sew ins with the Luke 24:49. I'm going to send you what my father has promised. But stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. John 14:16 says and I will ask the father and he will give you another Advocate to help you and to be with you forever.

Tell remember they was just more than just the 11:00 in the room in Jesus commissioned all his all of his people. But again Panda weight since we're going but they had to wait.

Sometimes we have to wait.

If you have the spirit now. So it's not your time to wait. I see your time to ask and your time to receive. To take the next couple weeks and we'll be moving into Pentecost very soon. I think Pentecost is in a couple weeks.

when is we going to ask and you ask the questions how come those in the church exploded by Leaps and Bounds and this one particular time and then And it doesn't seem to be happening happening for us now. Why is the difference?

Cuz we seem to have gotten into this depressive state in the church.

I do.

has we're expecting. something

maybe we have to wait for a little bit. I don't know.

I didn't expect it. Would you join with me and seeing him number? 422 Jesus 9 all Victorious love.

Please if you know the teen sing out.

Since it's hard for me to leave sometimes.
