Life is stressful.

Especially for women and mothers.

Family is changing.

Today is a day where to some extent we celebrate family, especially moms. Yet, research is showing the concept of family is changing. How will we as a church minister in way that takes this into consideration? Will we?

Moms & women are powerful.

Take a look at some recent Barna research on this fact.

Reimagine family.

This is what makes this letter so powerful; it isn’t just an older man writing to a younger with no relationship. It is the power of what happens when God intersects our life and rearranges our concept of family.

Pass on the faith!

Moms this is one of the greatest calls you have in life. The world will tell you a lot of of other things, good things, you ought to be doing but this is the most important one!

Start with prayer.

Paul reminds us of his prayer and I believe this is a good place to start, for all of us, especially for moms.

Genuine faith.

Rekindle the fire!

Timothy did not need a second helping of the Holy Spirit, he just needed to gently fan the flame. Like a good fire, without more wood and sometimes a little gentle breeze/breathe the fire will go out. However, the hope is even if it is only embers, a roaring blaze may only be seconds away.
If you do not know Jesus you do not have the flame Paul is speaking about, the Holy Spirit.

Boldness/Power

one of the traits of our faith. We do not exercise power as the world does but instead in serving one another. The boldness is the ability to speak in the midst of fearful, or trying times. We need to pray for boldness over our children. Our children need to see boldness in action.

Love

This is what keeps us from being tyrants, dictators and faith smashers. Above all else Paul says in another passage, put on love.

Self-control/Sensible

Life and the faith is not about us! It is not about what we want. We do not get to make any demands. Yet, in our world we are missing about on the gift of self-control
Next Steps
Be in community.
You were never meant to do this alone. Children we meant to be active parts of the faith community.
