Some had a hard time trying to figure out what you liked. Some uncertainty existed. This was a funny illustration. But without a doubt Jesus knew who He was. He knew the plan. He came to do His Father’s business. He made no bones about getting to that when He came.
Luke 2:41–52 The Message
Every year Jesus’ parents traveled to Jerusalem for the Feast of Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up as they always did for the Feast. When it was over and they left for home, the child Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but his parents didn’t know it. Thinking he was somewhere in the company of pilgrims, they journeyed for a whole day and then began looking for him among relatives and neighbors. When they didn’t find him, they went back to Jerusalem looking for him. The next day they found him in the Temple seated among the teachers, listening to them and asking questions. The teachers were all quite taken with him, impressed with the sharpness of his answers. But his parents were not impressed; they were upset and hurt. His mother said, “Young man, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been half out of our minds looking for you.” He said, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I had to be here, dealing with the things of my Father?” But they had no idea what he was talking about. So he went back to Nazareth with them, and lived obediently with them. His mother held these things dearly, deep within herself. And Jesus matured, growing up in both body and spirit, blessed by both God and people.
Jesus even reminded his parents of this because they knew but enjoyed raising him. He was focused, knew who he was and stayed true to the plan. It was no secret to his parents and to Jesus who He was meant to be and do.

Secret Identity

Growing up I used to watch this show My Secret identity. Where this kid was exposed to radiation and then he had super powers. He would help people out of a jam when they needed it most. No one was allowed to know he had this secret identity.
Jesus was like this. He would perform miracles and healings and then tell those he helped tell no one.
Mark 1:40–45 The Message
A leper came to him, begging on his knees, “If you want to, you can cleanse me.” Deeply moved, Jesus put out his hand, touched him, and said, “I want to. Be clean.” Then and there the leprosy was gone, his skin smooth and healthy. Jesus dismissed him with strict orders: “Say nothing to anyone. Take the offering for cleansing that Moses prescribed and present yourself to the priest. This will validate your healing to the people.” But as soon as the man was out of earshot, he told everyone he met what had happened, spreading the news all over town. So Jesus kept to out-of-the-way places, no longer able to move freely in and out of the city. But people found him, and came from all over.
I don’t know about you but that goes against my very nature. When I see something cool happen, something out of the ordinary, mindblowing, I have to tell about it. Don’t you?
Especially if it happened to me. Say you were sick someone heals you and then says tell no one you are like say what?? We love bragging rights. It goes beyond us to keep it secret. Something good happens say nothing why?
Luke 5:12–16 The Message
One day in one of the villages there was a man covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus he fell down before him in prayer and said, “If you want to, you can cleanse me.” Jesus put out his hand, touched him, and said, “I want to. Be clean.” Then and there his skin was smooth, the leprosy gone. Jesus instructed him, “Don’t talk about this all over town. Just quietly present your healed self to the priest, along with the offering ordered by Moses. Your cleansed and obedient life, not your words, will bear witness to what I have done.” But the man couldn’t keep it to himself, and the word got out. Soon a large crowd of people had gathered to listen and be healed of their ailments. As often as possible Jesus withdrew to out-of-the-way places for prayer.

Secret Humility

It is this thing called humility, being secretly incredible that I need to learn from Jesus’ example.
To use my talents to make a difference in the lives of those around me. I believe this is the best way to honor Jesus and to share his identity. To align myself with His example. I need to get to know who I am in Him and figure out how I can be secretly incredible helping others like He did.
Play Sheet Game with no help, then with help.
How can I know who I am?
Spend time with God, learn to hear His voice. He wants to talk to you, to show you things in your life. Read your Bible, journal, pray, listen to worship music these things all help you get closer to Him.
When you spend time with someone you know their likes and dislikes. There are people here tonight who you all don’t know. The activities that we went through already given you tidbits that help you learn but nothing can really help you get to know these guys other than spending time with them. That’s what Jesus did to get to know the disciples. He spent time with them pouring into their lives. Teaching them to be secretly incredible. These guys then shared this with others and made a huge difference in the world.

Secretly Incredible

Being secretly incredible is not about status it is about heart. It is about serving where you are because of your heart, your desire to make a difference where you see the need and where it means the most to you.
Jesus knew what He was made for. He knew what He was needed to do.
Now tonight here’s your chance. I want you to ask yourself some things:
What lights you up? What are you interested in?
What about following God lights you up or interests you?
How do you serve Him?
Are you secretly incredible?
Don’t try to measure up to the expectations or others. Or the standards of what you feel pressured to be. Be you. Be awesome. Be secretly incredible.
You can secretly be awesome, do something different, something that is outside the ordinary or routine. Something that is not for status or title. Something that makes a difference for His glory not ours.
What are some things you want God to do in your life?
Do you have a relationship with Him?
Do you want to be secretly incredible?
Tonight why not have that conversation with Him, chat about what you would like to have going on in your life with Him. To get to know who you are and who He is in your life and how you want to act on that going forward.
There is so much potential here but you have to recognize it
