We all struggle here
Hiding wickedness under the appearance of wickedness
Doing good things only to seen by others
Pride blooms into hypocrisy
“I care so much about my image that I will fake and live deceitfully to get you to think of me a certain way”
a lie expressed by actions
You know Hypocrisy because
loneliness— “no one knows me”
self-worth questions— “people only love the fake me.”
lack of purpose— “why am I even here? Whats the point?”

Hypocrisy is a danger- v1
The Disciples are warned and so are you and I. Anyone can become a hypocrite
**Pride is always there**
Hypocrisy spreads- v1
Leaven infects the whole lump. You can’t hide parts of your life from it.

It creates a lie to go over the truth

There is something underneath that needs to be dealt with

“what if” is it’s favorite question, there is so much to lose
**Frightened dogs bite quickly**

It assumes that the pain of dealing with the problem is more than the pain of hiding the problem- which isn’t right.
Hypocrisy is mistaken- v5
It fears the wrong thing
Hypocrisy is silly- v6, 2/3
In the end there are no secrets from God and He is the one making the decisions

The hypocrite is always more concerned about themselves

It doesn’t know where to go, just when it falls down
Hypocrisy lies to all
It lies to its’ master telling you that the real you don’t have value, it lies to everyone else pretending to be something it isn’t.
Hypocrisy is against God
So often Jesus teaches opposite the Hypocrites
Kind to those who don’t know, Opposes the proud hypocrite
You are lying to God saying that you don’t need him and can live without Him
The Hebrew word for hypocrite is translated as “the godless”
