Our return to 2 Corinthians lands us right in the middle of Paul’s super encouraging spiel on the hope of eternal life. And there’s no better topic to dwell on, a week after celebrating Jesus’ resurrection, than our own resurrection to come. As Paul continues to urge the Corinthian church to focus on the weight of glory, he uses even more word pictures to paint a clear image in our minds of new bodies, a true home, and our eternal dwelling. It is an appeal for us to truly see ourselves as not yet home, and to live in the light of the future. That is, to live by faith in order to please Christ who judges all people. So, it is another reminder of the importance of our eternal souls and the eternal souls of those around us.
