*THE GUARANTEE OF OUR SALVATION…………..**1 Pet.
1:3-5**……..Notes on file~/ **1~/14~/07*
* *
Cf…priest, drunk, subway, “What causes Arthritis?”…”Just
read the Pope has it?”
Seriously, Born Again folks not exempt hurts, pains of life…
In fact, when Adam~/Eve fell, they fell into a lot of hurt…
When they sinned the flood gates were open to all the suffering mankind has experience since…
We can rest assured of that.
But, we are assured of something greater, our eternal security.
Last week we looked at our “source of salvation”, today we look at “the guarantee of our salvation”.
Peter explains it in these verses.
Three things he speaks of here: 1. rebirth  2.
inheritance  3.
secure salvation

*I.
THERE IS SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT ABOUT OUR NEW BIRTH…V.
3*
* *Words “begotten us” refers to the new birth or regeneration…
Thus, we have this “hope”…this confidence in Christ our Lord.
Cf…Word “lively” used and speaks of duration, forever…
*A.
THE PROOF*…of our “begotten-ness” is in the resurrection of our Lord.
Recall what *Matt.
27:52*…”appeared to many”, is the proof…was never an argument…
Cf…Peter uses word “begotten”(v.3) in a botanical sense (plants, flowers)…mans heart as dry, shriveled, until God implants His spirit, thus new life.
Our salvation is guaranteed by His resurrection.
Cf…*1 Pet.
**1:23*…(expound)…*1 Cor.
**15:51**-52* (expound)
The significant of our new birth will be fully known in the resurrection.
*II.**
THERE IS SOMETHING SUPERNATURAL ABOUT OUR INHERITANCE…V.
4*
We know what inheritance is (some fortunate to get some down here).
Our God given inheritance is incorruptible.
Cf…only couple things on earth that not corruptible, some form permanence…like gold, diamonds.
But even gold wears away and diamonds can be ground down…
Peter uses word “fadeth” not…as flower..our inheritance will not wear away.
*A.
THE PERMANANCE*…it is “reserved”, “guarded”, kept for us.
CF…on earth a deed stating our property is ours guarantees that…an account at bank same…will go to another…
Our inheritance in heaven is eternal and kept until that day by Lord.
You may be poor here but not there.
*III.**
THERE IS A POWER THAT **SECU**RES OUR SALVATION…V.
5*
* *Word “kept” military term…means “guarded” by Lord…same word used in *Phil 4:7*…”shall keep”…
Notice; “who in v.5 connects with “us” in v.3…
*A.
THE POWER*…God’s mighty power assures us that we will arrive to our destination…
God, who keeps the universe in balance by His power will secure us at that day.
Cf…story told by Watchman Nee, man came him thought he was loosing his salvation…dog, baby boy…
Who will get my goods, not my dog, but my son.
It is secure.
It is the power of God that secures our salvation.
CONCLUSION: (go over three points)
Now let’s conclude by reading *V.5* again…
We are kept by faith “unto” salvation which is ready to be revealed in last time.
In that last day when trumpet sounds and Lord calls, our salvation will be revealed.
Cf…and, as Paul stressed in *1 Cor.
2:9*…no way to know what is in store, but we know we will enjoy it.
