There are two kinds of of families that I see in the church.
FIRST: families that grandma goes to church, serves God
SECOND: grandma serves God (and grandpa), and their children, and the grandchildren, and the great grandchildren…
The first group turns to the grandma in times of need, but have no relationship with God themselves.
The second group, with each passing generation - they learn not to rely on grandma, but learn to rely on God!
How is it that God is only powerful enough to affect some families for one generation only...
But powerful enough to affect other families generation after generation!
We have to have the answer to this question in order to fulfil God’s purpose!
If we answer this question then we change the church!
We change the church and we change out city!
We WILL saturate this city with the Apostolic doctrine!
Why is the family so important?
The family and the church is in contrast here because God used the family as the model to build the church!
This is why strong families produce a strong church which changes their world!
Further established this:
Continues is next chapter...
Must do things:
Pray together
Worship together
Serve together
If you pray together, worship together and serve together you will fall in love with Jesus together!
Much is said about generational curses...
Not so much about generational blessings!
Curses:
Blessings:
How do you build a generational blessing?
How do you assure that your children and grandchildren, and great… serve God?
If you pray together, worship together and serve together you will fall in love with Jesus together, generation after generation!
How does this look?
Done in the House of God!
I pray at home and church - TOGETHER
I worship at home and at church - TOGETHER
I serve in the church - TOGETHER
You fall in love with the church, pastor and leadership, fellow church family members...
All their flaws, good, bad, strengths and weaknesses.
We love each other as a family!
***********
As a family, you need to make some changes
Come as a family...
Pray, Worship and Serve TOGETHER
I was talking with a father of a 18 month old with another child of the way yesteday.
He was saying how he didn’t get to hunt much any more since his son was born...
How it would going to get worse - no money, no time
My response: You will not spend much time at all hunting and fishing for the next 10-12 yrs!
If you a good father, you will have a child in the tree stand with you scaring off the deer...
Fish to take off hooks because when you found where the fish were you showed the spot to you kids...
If we understand that as fathers, mothers then it should also apply to the church!
You should not be in alter without your kids around you!
You should not be be sitting alone, letting your kids play while you worship.
They need to be with you, you training them how to pray, worship and serve God!
Rules for children:
Kids only have the options you give them.
Born with no options and they should increase with training and age.
This idea that well my kids didn’t want to come to church today...
That is a you problem.
YOU DON’T THINK THAT CHURCH IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH!
Because if it is important enough to you, you don’t care what they think!
Go let you 2 year old play in the highway - YOU DON’T CARE WHAT THEY WANT.
You know what is best for them and you don’t care what they want or think.
BUT when it comes to church, you let them decide to play in an eternal hell because that’s what they want?
If they are under age, they go to church.
If they live in my home, they go to church.
You’re a parent, not a life coach!
2. Kids need to sit with their own parents.
Safety issue
Also, take them to the bathroom before service and make them sit throughout
YES THEY CAN!
Don’t have a problem sitting through a hour and a half movie...
Training issue - church is not play time it’s growth and worship time
Your willingness as a parent to allow you children to play in church is directly connected to the age they receive the Holy Ghost!
As they go into the youth group they can graduate to sitting with the youth - should always be in front of the parents so that they can be observed and corrected!
Courtesy issue - kids running in and out are a distraction
Train to worship, pray and serve for your children’s children’s sake!
Conclusion:
The Fifth Pledge
I will lead my family to be good members of this church.
We will pray together for our church.
We will worship together in our church.
We will serve together in our church.
We will ask God to help us fall deeper in love with his church because he gave His life for her!
