The Resurrection Is Central To Salvation

While most of us are familiar with the idea of Jesus dying on a cross to pay the penalty for all of humanity’s sin, many in the church and outside it are not so clear on the centrality of Jesus’ resurrection to the work of salvation.
last week we covered:
Jesus came to the world to bring peace
A king who rides in either brings war or peace- Jesus didn’t come to vanquish dissent and set up His everlasting kingdom. Rather He came in peace to save those who will receive Him.
We have peace with God- having been made right with God through our faith.
Faith in Jesus is the deciding factor for peace with God, not a sinless record.
His death PAID for all past sin, His Resurrection ensures you receive everything He promised.

Faith Alone

Romans 3:22–25 ESV
the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

THE RESURRECTION MATTERS

“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” ()
1 Corinthians 15:56 ESV
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
THE STING OF DEATH- SIN
“The sting of death is sin.” The scorpion-sting of death is sin. What makes death eternally destructive and damning? It’s our sin. The Bible says that “the wages of sin is death” — eternal death, as opposed to eternal life (). And it says we are all guilty, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (
THE PERFECT SACRIFICE
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . And the word became flesh and dwelt among us” (, ). He lived here as God and man — one Person with two natures, divine and human — for about 33 years, and he never sinned. “Which one of you convicts me of sin?” he asked. No answer (). Why? Because he is the one “who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin” ().
1 Corinthians 15:17–23 ESV
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:20–23 ESV
But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.
1 COR 15:1

THE SWITCH- The New has come

Saved by his death, saved by His life
We are not playing a reformed behavior game. He has truly set us free from the tight grip of our slavery to sin, and He has set us free to a new life with Him supplying every aspect for living, starting now, not later.
THE MEASURING STICK and the OLD NATURE is not compatible with GRACE EMPOWERMENT and the NEW NATURE
It’s one to understand that we’re forgiven of sin, but the nature of sin no longer has a hold on you. When Jesus arose, everything He purchased cleared the bank and shows up in our account. For anyone who comes by faith, the deposits start showing up as we keep moving by faith. The full trust fund, comes to maturity and the remainder is paid out lump sum when we are raised to a new body. The very nature of God now raises to new life what looked so corrupted and frail.
2 points
1)THE FLESH IS DEAD
This is why we rightly IDENTIFY ourselves as new, whole, forgiven, set free, righteous.
ROmans 5:5
Romans 5:8–11 ESV
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:14–17 ESV
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2)WALK BY THE SPIRIT
You are really alive with Jesus
This is why we rightly IDENTIFY ourselves as new, whole, forgiven, set free, righteous.
Romans 8:5–11 ESV
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Galatians 3:1–3 ESV
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
Gale 3:1-5
Galatians 5:1 ESV
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:16–18 ESV
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5:16–19 ESV
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Ephesians 2:1–3 ESV
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
Ephesians 2:1–10 ESV
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:1 ESV
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
Ephesians 2:1–5 ESV
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
NEW LIFE LIVED: EVERYDAY, NOW
THE TRANSFER TO NEW LIFE

WALKING IT EVERYDAY NOW

We are called to live in the current of life that flows from the presence of God by His Holy Spirit who is within us who believe in Jesus.

1)You are really dead to sin
2)You are really alive with Jesus
This is why we rightly IDENTIFY ourselves as new, whole, forgiven, set free, righteous.
Romans 6:4–11 ESV
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:
2 Corinthians 5:15–17 ESV
and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 cor 5:A LIVING HOPE - RESURRECTION/ DONT BE DISTRACTED
A LIVING HOPE - RESURRECTION/ DONT BE DISTRACTED
1 Peter 1:3–7 ESV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
DONT BE DISTRACTED BY HUMAN FRAILTY
1 cor 15:50-
1 Corinthians 15:50–58 ESV
I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
