SEVEN LAST WORDS
1) Father forgive them; for they know not what they do
2) Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise
A DYING WORLD IS CRYING OUT FOR HELP.. speak up they cant hear you…
luke 23.39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Speak up
CRYING OUT FOR HELP BY ATTACKING WHAT THEY NEED…
Political movements, movies, schools…
Speak up
THE MISUSE OF GODS LOVE.. as they point there condemning fingers at the church soicitey is trying to become the moral compass where the church once stood as a beacon of hope..
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
We must speak up and LET THE WORLD KNOW 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Yea yea is hear you talking in reference to the attacks on the church that we have nothing to worry about because Christ said..
mat 16.18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
We should be mindful for Christ concluded the statement with ..
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
The question is just what is being loosed because of our silence and inactivity..
We must remember We are the light of the world not the government nor anyother social political movement.
Speak up
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. 14Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. 15Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house. 16Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

2 cor 13,4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. Speak up
,20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
We have nothing to fear Speak up
rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Speak up
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. 4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. 5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
Speak up
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
The gates of heaven, The smooth streets of gold, oh to see the Glory of GOD..
Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
3) Woman, behold thy son… Behold thy mother. ,
Taking care of others in Your time of need
In the mist of the storm Jesus saw the pain of those around him and made preparation for his mother and bother the disciple took Mary into his home (showed compassion and love) not just a drive by helping hand. Out of love not just because he should.
When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! [27] Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
Jesus’ great love for His mother. There are two touching scenes here.
1. The women at the cross. They were there at great risk. Jesus was...
· a revolutionary in the eyes of Rome.
· a heretic in the eyes of the religionists.
Any supporter of Jesus who stood at the cross ran the risk of ridicule and arrest. Nevertheless, the women stood there. Why? They loved Him. There is no other explanation: they simply loved Him. He had done so much for them that they were willing to stand by Him no matter the cost.
“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: and that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again” ().
“Let us go forth” ().
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” ().
2. Jesus’ care of His mother. His thoughts were on others, not on Himself. Every fiber of His being existed for others, not for Himself. Even in death, His mind and being were set on taking care of others.
Þ He was touched with the feelings of Mary’s hurt and pain. In the last moments of His life upon earth, He made arrangements for her care.
Þ He is touched with the feeling of our hurt and pain, so he takes care of us.
“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” ().
4) My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Forsaken not abandoned
For the director of music. To the tune of "The Doe of the Morning." A psalm of David.
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from the words of my groaning?
2O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, and am not silent.
3Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
you are the praise of Israel.
4In you our fathers put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.
5They cried to you and were saved;
in you they trusted and were not disappointed
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. 46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 47Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. 48And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. 49The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
I would like the bring home a couple of points out of this passage:
1. Our atonement
2. This is a word about position
3. Our victory
1.
Here as the dark clouds of God’s judgment shows up to receive it’s reward, I’ll say it another way for you God’s justice for we know that God is a Just God and His wrath come together looking for their just due for the iniquity of sin. For darkness is often used as a symbol of God’s wrath and impending judgment.
So here it was that from noon (the sixth hour) to about the three o’clock (ninth hour) there was a great silence. Noon normally the brightest hour of the day now seemed to herald the oncoming of night. For nature itself was unable to bear the scene in which its Creator was being put death. Withdrew its light. Some say that it might have been an eclipse but not so for the Passover Moon was full. Some wonder and have researched to find records of this darkness and they found that the historian Phallus had recorded such a darkness occurring at this particular date and time.
We see that Christ up to this point has taken care of the needs of all around him in the pervious words we have prayer, promise and provision now that Christ has placed all his affairs in order It was now at the darkest hour that Christ began to notice that the presence of God was fading has now he fulfills the tremendous task of atonement. And his humanity cried out My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
He is making His soul an offering for sin. In those last three hours He is paying for the sins of the world. It was during this time that He is made sin for us; He became sin for us.
It was here as a Holy God could not look upon sin with favor that the Son of Man endured the what to me is the worst part of Hell, oh I know the bible tells us of the torment and the knasing of teeth But for me Just being separated from the goodness of God.
It is here that we have and infinite God suffering, infinitely for the infinite guilt of finite man
He was forsaken of God and yet, even at that time, God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation
if time application( Jeremiah( says I quit), job (cry for lawyer), we (storms and trials)
2.
Now we have in the interest of saving time and not keeping you long point 2 and 3 place together for they both happened and the same time as Christ now begins to fulfill his on word for as he is now lifted up on the cross placed between heaven and earth, God and man. As man move from being condemed under Adam to being saved by Grace thru Christ For
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us [][1]
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
we have victory for the battle is won
we are now free from the power of sin , we are now saved by grace
we are considered heirs to the thrown ,are now children of the King, a royal priest hood , a chosen people
5) I thirst. John19:28
I THIRST
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Jesus’ plea of being thirsty was not from a thirst of physical flesh but one of undying diligence to fulfill the scriptures and the will of God our father.
Some may say that this young man is mad for Jesus was truly thirsty in body and spirit and once all things were done begin to realize just how thirsty his flesh was hanging there on the cross.
You see just earlier while carrying that old rugged cross says that
33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, 34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
This is significant because Jesus’ desire his thirst to do our fathers will was so great that he wanted to be clear minded and physically able to do what was called of him.
The vinegar wine and gall mix is bitter to the taste but was used has an anatestic to ease the pain and suffering of the people being crucified. And Jesus’ desire his thirst was not for a drink of this stuff often called poison or snakes venom in the old testament.
38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
You see that’s what’s going on in the church today. We couldn’t bare the burdened set before us so we stopped and began to drink this bitter foul stuff and now our senses are numbed to what’s going on around us. we see the affects every day in our society and in our churches. We allow to much to go on in our churches with out taking a stand Yes we should be compassionate for we all have sinned but we should strive to over come sin not just accept it.
I thirst said Jesus hanging on the cross as he now becomes the one that’s the least of all of us as he began to taste the sting of death.
,
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Oh Can You Hear The Cry Of The Unsaved World:
OH; I THIRST
FOR THE WATERS OF EARTH HAVE FAILED
AN I AM THIRSTING STILL
I THIRST FOR SPRINGS OF HEAVENLY LIFE.
AND HAVE ALL DAY THEY RISE
I SEEK THE TREASURE OF THY LOVE
AND CLOSE AT HAND IT LIES
WILL THE CHIRLDERN OF GOD ANSWER THEIR DESPRAIRING PLEA OR LIFT UP THEIR EYES IN HELL AND THRIST AS WELL.
6) It is finished.
It is finished v.2
30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Here we have Jesus on the cross in agonizing pain and yet in the mist of all this he proclaims it is finished.
It is finished
Is not as some may take it as words of despair as so many of us have cried in our own lives
Looking at bad situations getting worse frustrated and depressed we give up and cry I’m finished, I’m done ,co put, I’m outa here . Things in the work place not going the way we would like, family members not acting quite like family we cry im finished. Even in the church when we don’t treat each other like Christian brothers and sisters.
The cry Christ was not one of despair ’marking the end of his life but one pronouncing the conclusion of a mission. This cry made in a world where a man’s word is bond. Society of Jesus’ day the term it is finished carried a form of legality with it for it marked the conclusion of a deal or arrangement between parties.
This makes since especially when the first words recorded from the lips of Jesus marked the beginning of the work which God had planned for his son Christ announces in that he must be about his father’s business.
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
(tetel-estia)
The words it is finished was used by the servants to signify that the work has been completed
The words it is finished was used by the Priests when examining sacrifices to say it is without fault, it is perfect
The words it is finished was used by the Merchants in referring to paying a debt to say it is paid in full.
This was the moment that Christ had prepared his disciples for. This was the moment for which he lived among us. Jesus had now completed the work which he was tasked to do was now and these words serve notice that victory is now in hand.
The perfect sacrifice has been given.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Victory is secure.
Finished is the atonement for our sin, the work is done. Mission completed. God and man are reconciled. Redemption is purchased. Salvation is a reality. The good news of the gospel is now proclaimed by God on Calvary. God is God and his people are His eternal possession.
Our debt has been paid in full
The battle is over
For the perfect sacrifice Jesus while on the cross now declares victory by shouting it is finished.
Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit
PLASMS 31:1-7
1 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. 2Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defense to save me. 3For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me. 4Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength. 5Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. 6I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD. 7I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; 8And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room. [2]
IN GOOD HANDS
44And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. 47Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.[3]
Here Christ is on the cross in the mists of his last breath. What will your last breath be, what will death catch you doing will you be ready in that last hour, minute or second.
A lot of us are living so bad that we pray we get the chance to see death coming so that our last breath would be to say lord forgive me.
But is not the case here for even in death Christ is showing us the perfect example of how to live and also how to die.
This, His monument of victory we have watched him in this last seven events or stages of the cross.
Forgiveing those that persute him, welcoming the lost into the kingdom, making provisions for his loved ones, taking on the sins of the world, thirsting with a desire to accomplish all that he could, proclaiming the victory for it is finished.
And now this his last breath he says father into thy hands I commend my spirit and gave up the ghost.
I only have few minutes so I’ll be quick if miss something say hold on and I’ll try to get back to it.
But if ya with ma somebody should say aman.
Christ did it all he did all that he accomplished all that he was assigned to.
14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [4]
when he had completed all he was assigned he claimed the victory. (shout now)
0When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: [5]
3 He knew that the battle wasn’t over yet so he put it in the Fathers hands (good hands)
In times of trouble,
9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
