Introduction

Have you ever been told to “walk in light” of something?
Treat others the way you want to be treated
Try walking a mile in another person’s shoes
Play as a team instead of as an individual
As we approach Easter Sunday this Sunday, lets ask the question:
Q - What is Easter all about?
A - The resurrection of Christ
Let’s ask another one:
Q - What does the resurrection mean for me? What difference does it make for me now?
A - The resurrection means everything for you now.
Jesus’ death
Jesus’ resurrection
Jesus’ death & resurrection was & is for you.
TRUTH: Walk in light of the resurrection of Christ.
It changes everything!

God’s Word

Colossians 1:19–23 ESV
19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. 21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Q - What is the hope of easter?

Jesus’ death & resurrection for you.

By the blood of the cross, God, through Jesus, made peace.

The resurrection proved that the check cleared.

“And you.” This wonderful news relates to you. Relates to me. By the cross & resurrection of Jesus, we are reconciled (brought back) to God.
God, in Jesus through the cross & resurrection, making peace between God and us. Even though we messed things up, God made a way through His Son Jesus.
Only through repentance & faith.
Our identity changes from sinner, wicked, evil, hostile towards God, to holy, blameless, and above reproach before Him.
We transfer from being an enemy of God to being a child of God.
Colossians 1:23 if indeed you continue in the faith,
Colossians 1:23 ESV

Christians, because of the resurrection, you walk in Jesus’ victory over sin and death.
stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard,
If you aren’t continuing in the faith, you will shift back & forth from it.
Continuing in the faith is believing what Jesus did for you and applying to your life.
Your story is now rewritten.
If you aren’t continuing in the faith, you will shift back & forth from it. The gospel of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus captures our souls to the point of our lives being supremely about Jesus. Continuing day by day in the truth that Jesus died and resurrected to save my soul through repentance and faith in him is our default setting; it’s a “no-brainer.”
You are spiritually alive.
Your sins are forgiven
You’re reconciled to God through faith in Jesus.
You’re saved from God’s wrath due sin
The Holy Spirit now indwells you and enables you to follow and love Jesus.
You are made new in Christ.

Conclusion

You begin to open God’s Word because it’s a delight
You are in constant prayer because it’s a delight
You can’t wait to be at church because it’s a delight
You bring friends to Jesus because He is your life.
