Jesus Calls the sinners

He not only calls but he is seeking those who are lost

He pursued those who needed him the most

He is looking for people to follow after him

This comes at a cost

Matt 16:24

He is not ashamed of who we are

He calls us friends even while we were dead

This is how we know that he loves us (Romans 5:8)

He received a bad name for us

The Pharisees hated him and wanted to kill him

Sacrifice comes from the law

The pharisees thought that following the law they could earn the forgiveness of God

They have transgressed the convenant (doesn’t mention the law)

The law was supposed to keep them in covenant but they committed whoredom against God

Mercy comes from repentence

only one went home justified
