Powerless

Romans 6:5–9 KJV 1900
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
John 19:1–4 KJV 1900
1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. 2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, 3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands. 4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
John 19:5 KJV 1900
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
The Came Jesus
++ Falsely Accused
++Betrayed
++Denied
++Beaten
++Tried as a man
Jesus told his Disciples what would happen
Matthew 16:21 KJV 1900
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Matthew 17:22–23 KJV 1900
22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: 23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
Matthew 20:18–19 KJV 1900
18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.
What Jesus knew
++Jesus knew his purpose.
++Jesus understood the path

The pathway to purpose is marked by suffering.

Though many people claim to follow Christ
++They celebrate the blessings
++They claim the authority of God
++But only to make the path easy

Nothing worth having in life comes without discomfort.

You cannot enjoy the blessing of
++Being filled until you have hungered and thirst
++Comfort until you have suffered loss
++Your heavenly reward without earthly persecution

A life with divine destiny is filled with landmines

Today, Believers have cast of the restraint
++We have become comfortable in sin
++We declare that God understands us
++We believe we get or deserve “a pass”
2 Peter 2:4 KJV 1900
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
2 Peter 2:5 KJV 1900
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2 Peter 2:6 KJV 1900
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

How you live makes a difference.

Romans 6:1–2 KJV 1900
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Nobody get’s a Pass

Romans 6:23 KJV 1900
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
2 Peter 2:9 KJV 1900
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

When God has placed destiny on your life it is hard to wait during the process.

Jesus is our example.

Philippians 2:6–7 KJV 1900
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
John 1:10 KJV 1900
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

All of creation recognized Him

He spoke to a tree… it responded
He spoke to the wind.... it ceased
He spoke to sickness… it had to flee
He spoke to demons all the forces of Hell

All were subject to his command

John 1:3 KJV 1900
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 19:5 KJV 1900
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

Sentence to Death

The finality of death
++Cannot be avoided
++Cannot be underestimated
Romans 5:14 KJV 1900
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
Because of sin
++Death was in charge
++Paradigm of Separation
Jesus Said after three days

I will rise again

Today we celebrate a risen Savior
John 20:26 KJV 1900
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
He stand in our midst
He bring’s His peace
Because

The Grave was Powerless

He was sown in weakness....raised in power
That which is sown in tear… reap in joy
weeping may endure for the night .. joy cometh
1 Corinthians 15:50–58 KJV 1900
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Romans 8:36–39 KJV 1900
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
