Psalm 32 ESV
A Maskil of David. 1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah 6 Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him. 7 You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. 9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you. 10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord. 11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Oh God we come before you today asking that you would be here in power as we examine your word. Please keep our minds focused on you this day, for the next 30 minutes especially God we ask that our hearts and minds would be focused on you and we ask that you would have your way among us.
Intro
Once when Jesus was speaking to the crowds which came to visit Him he asked this question which I will pose to you:
Why are you here today?
friend / family
tradition / obligation / curiosity
Easter / Jesus rose to life again / celebration
Why did Jesus die in the first place? What is this all about?
God created everything / you
with a purpose / to glorify Him / to have relationship with Him / to enjoy Him
Fall / promise
God cannot have relationship with sin...
this is the problem…
Romans 3:10–12 ESV
10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”
T
Righteous = being in accordance with God’s standards
we are not even good! = Sin
Prove it = Have you ever done something that no-one else knew about and still felt guilt?
mistakes / sin
Romans 3:23 ESV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Sin = anything we Think / Say / Do = against God’s desire
Have you heard of the 10 Commandments?
gods
Idols
Name
Sabath
Parents
Murder
Adultery
Steal
Lie
Covet
Jesus re-defines these...Love God with All Heart, soul, mind, strength… Love neighbor as self
Mistakes / Sins!
James 2:10 ESV
10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.

Romans 5:8 ESV
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Imagine the most monstrous crime you can… against you… would you die for the culprit?
We must understand the level of our guilt before God
Rom 5.8

What today’s celebration is all about!!!
What we deserve & What we get...
Romans 6:23 ESV

Wages = payment / what it deserves!
Physical death
Death = eternal separation and punishment = Hell
FREE GIFT!!!
Earn it
Loose it
How do I receive this gift?
Rom 6.23
How can I know I have obtained it?
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
by grace
Rom 10
Romans 10:13 ESV

through faith
Rom 10.13
Ephesians 2:8–10 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Eph 2.8-10

Death Could Not Hold Him!

I want to quickly give you 7 reasons to rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus today!

Proof that Jesus died.
in and of itself not so amazing because everybody dies… BUT
Isaiah 53:5 ESV
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
broken body =
John 20:27 ESV
27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”
sin punished =
Isaiah 53:5 ESV
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
Isa 53.5
curse taken =
Galatians 3:13 ESV
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—
Gal 3.13
Prophecy was fulfilled.
OT prophesied His death = ,; ; ect…
Jesus Prophesied His death =
God’s Word can be trusted = Promises Kept!
1 Corinthians 1:20 ESV
20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
2 Corinthians 1:20 ESV
20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
God is satisfied with His sacrifice.
God resurrected Jesus by His power.
God by the resurrected proves His sonship.
God resurrected Him to His right hand.
Ephesians 1:19–20 ESV
19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph
Romans 1:4 ESV
4 and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,
We have a (high priest) spiritual advocate.
Jesus is at the right hand of God interceding for us
Jesus is preparing a place for us also =
Hebrews 7:23–28 ESV
23 The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, 24 but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. 25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. 26 For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. 28 For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.
We are justified [pronounced as guiltless/innocent] before God.
On other Sunday we have been going through Romans...
Justification is based on His resurrection =
Justification eliminates the possibility of condemnation =
Justification brings peace!! =
John 3:16–18 ESV
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Jhn 3.
The believer has eternal life in heaven.
Jesus has the keys to Hell and death = ,
His resurrection assures us of ours =
Hiss resurrection assures us of eternity in heaven =
1 Peter 1:3–4 ESV
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
We have the (gospel) message to proclaim.
We have the message the whole world needs to hear

Prayer / Invitation

Prayer / Invitation

Please close your eyes and bow your heads as we pray…
Jesus, you tell us there is no other name by which we can be saved. You were and are victorious over sin and death. You are the living one who died and yet you are alive forevermore. By your blood we receive salvation, forgiveness, everlasting life, and an eternal home with you in heaven forevermore!
Jesus you know everything about us, our darkest secrets and our most glorious joys. Jesus you know that there are here today in this very building men and women who are heavy laden with the guilt of their sin. There are here today people who feel trapped by their sin and are crying out for you to have mercy on them, to forgive them, to accept them, to set them free. Jesus there are those here today who have heard this gospel for the first time today and whose hearts ache for you. You have already died for them, show them your resurrected power.
Father there are also those here today who have truly recieved you and yet lived in such a way as to bring stain to your son Jesus name. There are those here today who have this truth and yet have lived or are living the life of a prodigal child, a rebellious child. They are here this morning and they too are crying out to you for restoration, for forgiveness, for newness of life, for your resurrection power.
Jesus there are also those who are here today who know you and seek to walk with you and yet rejoice in this message all the more for the reminder of this blessed gospel. Those that know how easy it is for them to fall to temptation, to depart or stray form your path. Those who never tire of hearing of how you brought victory and freedom and even now continue to sustain them in your great power, we thank and praise you for this Gospel! For your resurrection power!
Father by the power of your Holy Spirit we ask that you would have your way in us…
If you by the power of God are being drawn to Him to for the first time to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, by the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit of God are being drawn from death to life, if you want to accept Jesus I want you to raise up your hand...
Yes, God sees you… If Jesus is calling to you do not wait, raise your hand to Him...
For all of you who just took that first step of faith to raise your hands please lower them now and pray with me...
God I recognise that I am a sinner in need of your mercy and grace. I ask for you to forgive me and cleans me of all my sin. I ask you to free me from all that hinders me and causes me to stumble. I ask you to give me a new heart and I invite your Holy Spirit to dwell within me. God my Father I recognize you as my Lord and Savior and I give my life to you Jesus and I thank you for adopting me into your family and calling me into your kingdom.
With eyes still closed, if you this morning know the truth of this Gospel and need to repent from your waywardness, if you are feeling the tug of the Holy Spirit to re-commit, re-dedicate, repent and renew your relationship with the Father, I ask you also to now raise your hand...

Father forgive me I pray, have mercy on me a sinner. I have known your Word and ways and have chose to live selfishly. I praise you for your patience and lovingkindness toward me, which I do not deserve. Father I beg you to pour out and fill me with your Holy Spirit, that you would have your work done in me. I accept whatever discipline this might mean for me and I pray that you would preserve and renew me. Please remove stumbling blocks from my path and make your way straight before me that I might now walk in your ways. Amen!
