Other prophets have come along. They being self centered about their own lives they would suggest that they will never die or that they are immortal. Jesus foretells of His own death perfectly and exactly like it would play out. Then it is fulfilled.
· Subsequently, the Buddha was visited by Mara, the God of Death, who invited him to pass away. The Buddha did not accept the invitation right away. It was only after Ananda, his attendant, failed to recognise his hint for an invitation to remain that he died
Joseph Smith the founder of the Mormons and Latter Day Saints was arrested numerous times on all kinds of accounts. Arson, Treason, etc etc. He and his brother were in jail when a mob raided the jail and killed them.
Its not his death that we are going to focus on this morning but it His life that we will focus on. Not his life on earth during His ministry but this life that we know of today and I hope you do know of this life today . HE LIVES
Jesus foretells his death. Jesus foretells of His death 3 times in Mark
Mark 8:31–33 ESV
And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
Mark 9:1-13
not only does jesus foretell of his death and resurrection but he also shows peter and james a glimpse of it through this experience on the mountain
Jesus foretells His Death a second time
Mark 9:30-32
Jesus foretells His death a third time
Mark 10:32-34
How do we know of this Christ who people claims was resurrected and who ascended to the right hand of His Father. How do we know these events were real?
1 Corinthians 15:1–11 ESV
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.
