This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Other people may not know, God most certainly knows.

Don’t be partakers with those who live lives filled with sexual sin, covetousness, disobedience.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
It refers to His perfection.

When we talk about light we are usually referring to “visible” light or what is called “white” light.
But, in reality “white” light is made up of the 7 colors of the light spectrum.

God’s promise of a rainbow following the flood.
Rainbow - the Sun (Jesus is called the Sun of righteousness in ) passes through the prism of water droplets and we can visibly “see” the 7 colors of the spectrum (or of “light”)
That was a promise to Noah (and mankind) that God would never again destroy the earth by flood.
And the reminder was a “visible” representation of God Himself. ()
As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
7 is the number of completion and perfection.
7 days of creation
7 year of plenty, 7 years of famine in Egypt

God nature is light and as His children our nature should be light.
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
But that’s not who we were!

Definition of Darkness - The absence of light.

All it takes to have darkness is to not have light. (lights in room off)
Light and Darkness cannot co-exist

As those without Christ, we WERE DARKNESS
Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
“alienated from the life of God” - having no part of God (His light)

We’ve been rescued out of darkness

He calls us to worship -we were incapable of giving Him glory.

We are not just “in” the light, we are the light.

The true test of Christianity is not do you go to church, read your Bible or pray.
The real test is “fruit” being evident in your life.

It’s telling the TRUTH about who I really am!
Am I portraying to others who I really am?
Unbelievers - Am I soft-peddling my Christianity as to not stand out?
Believers - Am I pretending to be more spiritual than I know I am?

Do I desire to have my life exposed to the light of God’s Word?

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
If you’re walking in the light you desire to come to the light to expose anything in your life that shouldn’t be there.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
Am I fellowshipping with works of darkness or reproving works of darkness?

In other words, am I light in the darkness or am I still walking in darkness?
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
There must be separation....
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
It is not o.k. to just talk about the darkness of others without reproving them.
Talking about them is shameful (gossip) if you don’t also reprove them.
