Introduction

Someone has said of this psalm; “we must read it with our left eye on king David and our right eye on Jesus Christ.”
We will be looking at this psalm with our right eye this evening.

I. Rebellion is foolish v.1-3

The Psalm begins with a question.
“Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?”
This question is written in astonishment at what people are doing. The question highlights the stupidity of what the nations are doing, how pointless it is.
The nations are raging together, they are plotting among themselves, but it is in vain, its worthless, why do they do it?
In v.2 it continues and explains more about what they are doing
