Ted crashed into his bed. He had a 10 page paper due tomorrow and he only had a page written. When he tried to write, none of his thoughts would flow. He needed to bring his grade up; now he was potentially facing a failing grade because he didn’t have his final paper turned int. With the feeling of exhaustion he fell fast asleep.
The next morning, his sister came to his room and said Ted, it is time to get up.
Uh what time is it?
What day is it?
Do I still live in the town of Misery and attend Misery High School?
Turn the Light off. I’m sick
Stop. If you were Ted’s sister, what would you do to wake him up?
Ted you gotta see this. You remember that paper you were trying to write. I found your story published on the facebook page. Your teacher has already read it and has commented that she has never read a paper as good as yours in all the 25 years of teaching.
Very funny sis!
Ted, I’m serious look, you have 50 text messages on your phone? All your friends are commenting on your story.
Get out! I mean no, What happened?
Stop, would that get Ted out of bed? You may say no. That is when you realize your dreaming and then go back to sleep.
So though we live in a world of darkness, and face foes, are we bound to live in an exhausted state. We are familiar with the phrase throughout Scripture, that bid us to awake from sleep, but do those passages server like the sister in our story.
So when we come to Isaiah 60, and here God’s call to His nation Israel to awake due to all the nations that are coming to her, do we just conclude that is for the future millenial kingdom when God make’s everything new?
Or is God revealing things about how He dwells with His people that would give us reason to wake now.
The background of chapter show us that exhaustion that comes from a people seeking honor and provision outside of themselves. He we see glory in them and people coming to them as a result
So we are looking at how God is dwelling among His people in the future millenial kingdom and asking is there cause to “get out of bed.” What does the awakened condition look like?

God’s puts His glory in you to draw others to Him. (v.v 1-5)

2 Corinthians 4:6 NKJV
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5:8 NKJV
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

God transforms coercion to delight (v.v. 6-14)

God replaces destitute conditions with permanent provision (v.v. 15-18)

God’s presence transcends all other glories (v.v. 19-22)
