Mary Glorifies and Magnifies the Lord (vs. 46-47)

Mary can praise because she has placed all of her trust in Him, not her circumstances.

Forsaken by friends, misunderstood by community members, she still trusted in God.
Every part of her is bound up in glorifying and magnifying God.

In spite of the circumstances of your life, if you have the Spirit of God living inside of you, you can glorify God

Don’t let your circumstances blind you to the goodness of God.

When your prayer life is focused on praising and glorifying God, you will become content and filled with joy!

Youssef, Michael. Life-Changing Prayers: How God Displays His Power to Ordinary People (p. 180). Baker Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.
If anyone in the world would have a right to worry and be anxious and upset, it is this pregnant teenage virgin. Her life was on the line. Her reputation had been trashed. Her honor was called into question. Her future was uncertain. But her response to her circumstances shows us why God selected her, among all the young women in Israel, to be the mother of the Messiah. Regardless of her circumstances, she glorified and magnified the name of the Lord.

Mary Praises God for His Grace (vs. 48-52)

The secret of Mary’s strength in these difficult circumstances was her awareness of God’s grace.

Mary saw herself humbly as simply an instrument in the hand of God.

Jesus once described John the Baptist this way:

Luke 7:28 NASB95
“I say to you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
But why? Because of how John saw himself in relation to his cousin, Jesus...
John 3:30 NASB95
“He must increase, but I must decrease.
When we look at Mary’s prayer her reliance upon God’s grace shines brightly.

Look at the “He has...”

Matthew 23:12 NASB95
“Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.

Mary Thanks God for His Faithfulness (vs. 53-55)

You cannot read the Bible without noting that God has been faithful to His promises.

God promised Abraham and Sarah a son. Twenty-five years later, He delivered on His promise. He promised to deliver His people from Egyptian bondage. Four centuries later, He did. He promised Moses that He would take the people of Israel into the promised land. Four decades later, He did. Century after century, from Genesis through Malachi, God promised to send the Messiah. In the fullness of time, in accordance with His promise, Jesus was born of a virgin.

God always keeps his promises.

Mary was elated because the Son of God was alive inside of her.

She praised God because He had sent His promised redeemer.
CONCLUSION
As the people rejoiced on Palm Sunday as Jesus entered the city, as John the Baptist lept for joy when Jesus entered the room, do you praise God that Jesus has entered your life?
