When it’s convenient? When you feel confident?
Most of the time, if you’re like me, your obedience to God is “flaky.”
Desire to obey God, but living in obedience to God is a daily struggle.
God is calling young people to be obedient to Him now.
Q - What if God called you to do something you did not understand?
That’s exactly what God did to Abraham in . God called Abraham to Mt. Moriah to sacrifice his one and only son.

God’s Word

God had given Abraham & Sarah a son at the age of 100.
God had promised and delivered on His promise
Immediate arrangements to obey God.
Because of his faith in God.
Isaac’s confusion but held on to his faith
Abraham & Isaac’s obeyed to the end
God rewarded their obedience from their faith with a substitute, a ram.

TRUTH: Our faith enables our obedience

God is calling youth people now to be obedient to Him.
God is calling young people to be obedient to Him now.

We wait until things in our life are going good or we are in control of our life.
We do not get to “pick & choose” when to obey God.
Obey God from the overflow of faith.

Subtruth: Our obedience to God is a reflection of our faith in God.

Isaac didn’t have the answers.

The reality: God used Isaac to point towards Jesus’ sacrificial and substitutionary death.

Q - Could it be that God has a plan for you that’s bigger than yourself?
Could it be that God has a plan for you that’s bigger than yourself?
Q - Could it be that God has a plan to use you for His story?
God can not use you if you are not obedient to Him.
He did just that with a preteen named Isaac.
He did that with a 18 year old. The 18 year old was me.
Williams Baptist University story
God can not use you if you are not obedient to Him.
Here’s the deal. We all want want Isaac moments. We want God to really use us. Matter of fact, we want God to instantly, without us doing anything, use us like He does other people.
Q : How can we expect God to use us if we aren’t obedient to Him?
Small things - daily spiritual disciplines
Consistent things - faith in God everyday

Conclusion

Q : How on earth were Abraham & Isaac able to carry out what God called them to?
A : Relationship
Our obedience to God isn’t for relationship.
>>We don’t obey God to create relationship with God<<
Our obedience to God is from relationship.
>>We obey God because we are relationship with God<<
If your relationship with God in Christ is not the most important thing about you, you will not have the obedience like Abraham & Isaac.
Genesis 22:15–18 ESV
15 And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16 and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18 and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”
