The new covenant that is being studied is not just a covenant that Isreal will redeem but this covenant would be one that all Christians would redeem
There has been years of debate on Isreal and the church.
Some believe this refers to just Isreal but we know and through the NT writings that this redemption was for jew and Gentile
The Isrealites had rebelled enough for God to cut them off
Why?
Because God is God and he is worthy of more than what they were doing
We are grafted into the Isreal and we are one with them because of Christ.
To graft is to inoculate, prune or implant into a weaker or inferior tree so that the weaker gaines strength.
It is peculiarly appropriate for olive-trees and it is the design of the church to show the union of true believers from the root to the branches
jews were branches broken off.
gentiles were the wild olives
The root being the covenants made with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.
So if the root is Holy therefore the branches will be also in a future time .
Some have been broken off because of their unbelief.
It is not those that have been broken off now that will some day be grafted back in but it is that future generation that God will reunite with Isreal and Jews at that time.
To close this morning it is our job as the more nourished Christians to lift up the inferior.’[
to give nutrients to those in need.. to be like scotts weed and feed.
to weed out the bad and feed for healthy growth.
It is our job to disciple those new in the faith.
It is our job to reach out and plant new seeds to those who dont know Christ at all.
