The Final Week
As we approach Easter I ask that you will take a little journey with me for the next couple of weeks.
I pray that this will be a journey like you have never been on before.
Even if you know that you know that you know that you belong to Jesus Christ, I pray that this journey will challenge you, change you, and draw you closer to Jesus than ever!
We will begin our story with the final week of the life of Christ.
Through God’s doing everything and everyone is in place.
In place for a great drama that will take place.
There are giant spikes sitting in a bin.
These spikes are used to crucify those who commit great crimes.
A cross has been made of trees and is leaning against at wall waiting to be pressed against the torn and beaten body of this criminal.
The people who will be involved are also in their position.
Pilate, Annas and Caiaphas, Judas, the centurions.
This story began long before Jesus Christ ever took His first breath on this earth.
It began with a man named Adam.
Adam who was the first human created by the Almighty God.
Once God looked over Adam, this creation of His, He said, “This is very good.”
Through the mistakes or dare I say sins of this man, Adam and every human being since.
God now has to do something to save His most prized creation.
Knowing that once these sins are commited, every one of these sins must be paid for.
Punishment and even death must be served because this God is a just God.
Now this Nazarene leaves Jericho and is heading toward Jerusalem.
He is fully aware of what is about to happen.
He knows this is His purpose, the very reason He was born on earth.
Think a moment about the angels in heaven.
Maybe silent, knowing what is about to happen.
Maybe in prayer or even just signing praises to Almighty God.
I know they were ready for battle, with swords in hand ready to swoop from the heavenly heights to protect and secure their Jesus.
They are however, held back knowing full well what must happen.
Jesus himself knew his was stepping into His final moments on earth as fully Man and fully God.
Can you sense His passion?
Can you sense His purpose?
He knows exactly where the matchless love His’ Father has for us will create for Him great suffering and even bring death.
