Jesus Knows the Heart

This man wants eternal life and knows that good has to be there for Him

to have it.

Jesus begins revealing this man’s heart by asking questions.

Jesus exposed the truth that in this man’s heart, his god was his possessions.

Our hearts show that the good for eternal life is not in ourselves.

Jesus is Worth Following

This man made a value judgment that his possessions were better than Jesus.

Turning away from idols is what Jesus’ call to repentance means (Matthew 4:17).

Following Jesus means that we are willing to give up anything.

Any cost to follow Jesus is always worth it and leads to joy (Matthew 13:44).

Jesus does the Impossible

Jesus uses a large animal and a small hole to show them the impossibility of

the situation.

Nothing could be more impossible to overcome than our sin against holy God.

God has a long track record of doing the impossible.

With God, the impossible changes from hopeless to an opportunity.
