Hunger
Proverbs 2
If my soul is filled with cares, pleasures, the love of riches, or desires of this world, you’ll be full and actually despise the sweet honeycomb of God’s fellowship.
I usually do not eat breakfast on Thanksgiving Day just because I want to save myself for the meal.
Then the feast begins with turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green bean casserole, pies, and so forth.
Afterwards we groan because we eat to much.
We are stuffed!
Then lets say we go to another family members house a few hours later when they are serving dinner.
It comes out in all its glory.
This time the dinner is 10 times better but instead of longing for the great food we turn our nose to it .
It doesn’t matter that it was far superior because we are full.
Or if your not stuffed you might just nibble.
We might not turn our nose to God but we just nibble away on the things of God because we have just feasted at the table of the world a few hours ago and are satisfied.
We say we want him but does our action betray our words?
We need to protect our hunger for the Lord.
