Chapter 1
In these last days God spoke to us through His Son
Jesus who is the very Image of God and is higher than the angels
Chapter 2

we must listen carefully to the truth as a result
the truth was spoken by Jesus and confirmed by God through signs and wonders

man for a little while is lower than the angels but

given dominion over the world to come but not yet
we do see Jesus for a little while made lower than the angels by God’s grace tasted death for everyone…not for the angels but for man so He could be our high priest.
Chapter 3
as a result of Jesus being our high priest we must think carefully about Him..try to understand who He is
we must not harden our harts the way the Israelites did in the time of Moses

if we trust God to the end we will share with Jesus all that belongs to Him
Chapter 4
because the Israelites did not trust God, He would not let them enter His rest.
We must remember their example and not repeat their mistake.

there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God
all who enter into God’s rest have rested from their labors

as a result of this warning to enter into God’s rest let us do our best to do so.
since our high priest Jesus has entered heaven we should hold firmly to what we believe

Chapter 5
High priests according to the law are chosen among mortal men who sin.
Jesus was chosen by God to be our perfect high priest.

we need to mature in Christ not having to go over the fundamentals of faith over and over.

those who have heard and tasted cannot be brought back to repentance

Chapter 7
Melchizedek was not of the Levitical priesthood yet was greater than Abraham since Abraham paid tithes to him.
if perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood there would have been no need for Jesus who was not from the Levitical priesthood but from the tribe of Judah
because the law could not make one perfect God swore with an oath that Jesus would be a priest forever making Jesus the guarantee of a better covenant
Jesus because He lives forever is our High Priest forever.
Making our salvation forever
the law appoints men who are weak.
but the word of the oath which came after the law appoints a Son made perfect forever.
Chapter 8
the main point is this.
we have a high priest who sits at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens.

the ordinances of the copy of the tabernacle here could not make the conscience clean

Christ entered into the heavenly tabernacle not through the blood of animals but through His own blood.
the only way to clean our conscience
this is why Jesus is the mediator of a new covenant
a death has occured for the sins commited under the first covenant
those who have been called may receive the promise of eternal inheritance
the Levitical high priests had to continually offer blood for thier sins and the sins of the people.
Jesus offered His own perfect blood once for all.
heb 9:
since Christ died once for our sin when He comes back it will be for salvation not about judgment and sin for those who eagerly await Him.
Chapter 10
the law could not take away sin but Jesus could
Jesus takes away the law in order to establish God’s will through Jesus own flesh.
because of this we are sanctified through the blood of Jesus once for all, and once for all time

because of Jesus blood we can enter the holy place by a new and living way that Jesus gave to us through the veil of His flesh.
we should hold strong our belief in Jesus and stick together
if we reject Jesus there is nothing but judgment left for us (if we go on sinning intentionally)
remember the early days when your faith was strong and hang on to that faith.
Chapter 11
faith is
the assurance of things hoped for
the conviction of things not seen
the faithful of old did not receive the promise so that we would be perfected through faith with them
Chapter 12
using their faith as an example let us let go off all sin and do God’s will through obedience to Him.
we should accept God’s discipline as a Child loved by God and accepting He disciplines us for our good.
pursue peace with all men and sanctification with God
see to it no one comes short of the grace of God

because you have not come to something made from men but from God and Jesus

do not reject God’s call because it is the only thing that is eternal

but be grateful to God for our God is a consuming fire.
