Attention: Illustration about having enough
Whenever food was dished out at our house, my brother would always insist that everyone should get food before him.
At first I thought he was being generous and thoughtful, but when I say just how much mac and cheese he would put on his plate, I knew why he was so insistent.
He wanted to make sure everyone got food so he could have all of what was left.
He would clean out the pot and pans.
But what would happen if he got his food first?
Would there be enough food for his sister and I? Thankfully we never had to worry about that.
But in many places in our lives we contemplate whether or not we will have enough.
We wonder if there will be enough jobs for me when I graduate.
Will I have enough experience to get a job.
Will I make enough money?
Will I be a good enough to my husband or wife?
This drive for being enough often causes us to have enough.
We convince ourselves that we need to have the latest phone and gadget.
We need to have the latest and best and if we don’t, its not enough.
Sometimes we even believe that we deserve the best not because we have done great things, but because come on this is me!
