Introduction:

1. Boaz Redeemed Ruth by the Law (vv.1-12)

-Boaz couldn’t just take Ruth as his wife because he wanted. He had to follow the law.
-Jesus fulfilled the law to redeem us out from under the law

2. Boaz Had the Means to Redeem Ruth (vv.4, 6-12)

-The closer redeemer did not seem to have the means to redeem Ruth
-Only Jesus can redeem us under the law

3. Boaz Grafted Ruth Into His Family (vv. 13-17)

-Boaz and Ruth had a child for Elimelech through Ruth to carry on the name of Elimelech and his inheritance.
-This was a legitimate, full-blown marriage and not a concubine status

4. Ruth Became Heir to a King (vv.18-22)

-Perez was the son of Judah and Tamar - adulterous relationship from
-Tamar also was a foreigner grafted in to Messiah’s line
-Rahab the prostitute of Joshua’s day from Jericho married Salmon who was the father of Boaz
-
-Just like God grafted in 3 foreigners who were pagans by faith into the family of Israel and even into the royal and Messianic line of Kings, God grafts us as Pagan as we may be to become sons and daughters of the King.
