1. PRAYER PROVIDES AMMUNITION TO THE BELIEVER

A. PRAYER STRENGTHENS THE BELIEVER (Col. 4:2)

  • watchful: soldier on guard duty
  • Believer as a soldier
  • To stay alert in fighting spiritual warfare

Fight the good fight of faith, pray in faith by:

  • Offloading our cares on Jesus and He downloads His Love to us (1 Pet. 5:7)
  • Exchanging our tiredness and weariness for His strength (Isa. 40:31)
  • Receiving His peace which brings healing and wholeness in our souls (Phil. 4:6-7)

B. PRAYER DISARMS THE ENEMY

“When the devil sees a man or a woman who really believes in prayer, he trembles as much as ever did”~ R.A Torrey

Prayer deals a crashing blow on Satan’s strategies towards God, His People and His Kingdom.

Satan’s method to stop believers praying = DISCOURAGEMENT; because:

  • Delays in prayer being answered
  • Prayers not answered according to their desires (Luke 18:1)

Keep on Praying. Listen to God’s encouragement:

  • Psa 65:2 – Our God is “the One Who answers prayer”
  • Pro 15:29 – Our Lord “hears the prayer of the righteous” … our prayer rises to God as incense (Rev 5:8)
  • Our prayers are stored up on the altar of God and in His appointed time of release… He pours them out as blessings to us

2. PRAYER SETS THE CAPTIVES FREE

Two other roles where believers must take on to fight spiritual warfare intelligently:

A. TAKE UP OUR ROLES AS PRIESTS (1 Pet. 2:9-10)

  • Offer prayers on behalf of our loved ones and all whom we know are not saved
  • Go to our prayer altars … Pray for a download of God’s love for those who need Christ (Rom. 10:1)

“It’s not a place – it’s where you commune with God. Whatever form it takes – it’s between you and God… The personal altar for me is the place where I must touch God before I can touch the people. Jesus gave us the pattern. He fellowshipped with the Father – loved the Father – then He loved those around Him…” ~ Suzette Hattingh talking about prayer altars.

B. TAKE UP OUR ROLES AS KINGS

  • Empowered with Christ’s authority to come against powers and principalities that captivate many of our unsaved loved ones…
  • God has equipped us with spiritual weapons (2 Cor 10:4-5)

CONCLUSION

  • Satan trembles when a praying saint is on his knees seeking God’s face.
  • Let us fortify ourselves with prayer by asking the Holy Spirit to empower us to:
    • Discipline ourselves as soldiers of Christ to pray earnestly and fervently on a daily basis – have our faith strengthened
    • Take up our positions as priests and kings unto God – to pray and see our families, friends and relatives set free from the power of Satan
