The whole point to the series is to help you and me prepare to partake in the Lords supper next week we are going look at it takes to prepare ourself. This week we are goin to look at what the lords supper means and who can partake.
The Lords Supper can be called many different thing. It can called The Lord’s Supper, Communion, Eucharist, Sacrament or the Lord”s table. We most of the refer to it as the Lord’s Supper.
Matthew Mark and Luke all have an account for of the Lord’s Supper. we are goin to be looking at Luke account of the events in Luke 22:14-20
Luke 22:14–20 ESV
14 And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. 18 For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
Why do we observe the Lord’s Supper?
It’s a time to look to the past.
Passover Celebration
the Lords supper help should be a time that we remember all that God did for Isreal and the promise he made to them at the for projection . when the angel of death passed over. the isrealist first born sons where spered from death. beacuse of the lamb that was killed and the blood that was put on the door ways.
. It begins with the blessing and first cup of wine.
2. They bring in the food—the bread, herbs, greens, stewed fruit, and the lamb.
3. The eldest son asks about the night, and the father responds with the exodus story and praises God from the first half of the Hallel in Psalm 113–15.
4. The family partakes of the second cup.
5. The bread is blessed and distributed, eaten with the herbs and fruit, then explained by the father.
6. The meal itself is eaten, with the lamb completely consumed.
7. The third cup is shared and the second half of the Hallel sung, Psalm 116–18.
8. The fourth cup is shared, ending the celebration.
Luke 22:17–18 ESV
17 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. 18 For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
Luke was the only one to start right here.
The traditional Passover celebration used four cups of wine—at the opening benediction, after the Passover explanation, after the meal, and after a concluding psalm. This was probably the first cup that introduced the ceremony.
second cup o wine is not said here
Luke 22:19 ESV
19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Jesus is the passover lamb
1 Corinthians 5:7 ESV
7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
It’s a time to look to the future.
it a time to look to the return of Jesus and and the kingdom of God being fulfilled. we dont know when that goin to happen but it will be a glorious day when it does. Jesus say that he will not eat until the coming of the kingdom.
Luke 22:16 ESV
16 For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
Revelation 19:7 ESV
7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;
It’s a time to remember what Christ did for us.
Went and prayed Graden
how is was betray. put in front of a pansy count. then ordered to be curfideed betin almost to death
come to the Lord’s table book had a great illustration that to help picture what Jesus went through on the cross
The blood on his head where the crown of Thorns was push into place
The blood that came from his hands and feet were they were nail to the cross
The blood on his side and shoulders that came form being whip with the cat of nine tails.
The blood on the ground where it fall from his body.
This is the greatest demonstration of the love that showed but die on that cross for you and me.
But thats not then end of the story three day later he rose from the grave and concarded death. we now have the chance to accept Jesus if we so chose.
so we take the lords supper to remember the past the future and was Jesus did for you and me
if you have made desion
