Scriptural Text:

Illustration:
Self-righteousness is like a bottomless cup: though you pour and pour, you will never be able to fill it. Why? Because pouring yourself into yourself adds nothing to you. Nothing plus nothing always equals nothing.
Instead, accept God’s righteousness rather than trying to accumulate your own. You will find that the righteousness he offers is real. And that is what fills the cup of sanctification.
Without the power of God released in our lives, when in conflict with sin we are like an infantry soldier in the presence of a tank. We cannot do a thing. But by trust in the power of the living God at work in us, we can say no and make it stick. We can turn and begin to live as God intended us to live.

What Is Salvation?

Salvation( GK. Soteria) is the preservation from destruction, failure, or evil.
• The Greek word for salvation is soteria, which means “deliverance, preservation, salvation.”
In the Bible, salvation is a deliverance from a state of danger or sickness to a state of wholeness, safety, or prosperity.

salvation involves not only health, safety, and deliverance from physical danger and enemies (; ; ; ; )

but also personal salvation and deliverance from the power of sin and its penalty (; ; ; ; ; ; ; ).

T the Holy Spirit is received at the moment of salvation.

the Holy Spirit is received at the moment of salvation (, , Romans 8:9)

Romans 8:9i ESV
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
is even stronger, stating that if a person does not have the Spirit, he does not belong to Christ. Therefore, the possession of the Spirit is an identifying factor of the possession of salvation. Further, the Holy Spirit could not be the “seal of salvation” () if He is not received at the moment of salvation. Many scriptures make it abundantly clear that our salvation is secured the moment we receive Christ as Savior.
(NKJV) 5Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God...

(NKJV) 13In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

(NKJV) 9But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

To be delivered from self, you must grasp the work of the Spirit as revealed by Jesus Christ:

The Holy Spirit helps believers (v.7)[, , , ,]

The Holy Spirit convicts and convinces the world (v8-11) [, , , , , , , ]

The Holy Spirit guides believers through three things(v.12-13) (1) speaking the truth(, , , ) (2) leading into all the truth( , ) (3) showing things to come (, , ] )

Tozier Wrote,
What a happy hour it becomes when we are drawn out of ourselves, and into that vacuum rushes the blessed Presence.
How wonderful in our humanity to sense the reality of the Holy Spirit’s invitation: “Pour yourself out! Give yourself to Me! Empty yourself! Bring your empty earthen vessels! Come in meekness like a child!”
Drawn out of ourselves by the Holy Spirit of God—for who knows the things of God but the Holy Spirit?

We are delivered from ourselves when we finally seek God for Himself alone!" A.W. Tozier

Therefore, the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ and only Christ (v.14-15) [, , , ]

the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ and only Christ (v.14-15) [, , , 17:22]
the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ and only Christ (v.14-15)
(NKJV) 26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
(NKJV) 30I and My Father are one.”
30I and My Father are one.”
(NKJV) 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
10Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
(NKJV) 22And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
