Introduction
Greetings...
Began with looking at “God’s Love For Man.”
Then turned our attention to “Man’s Response To God’s Love.”
Last week we then started looking at “Satan’s Lies” in contrast to God’s Love with the over reaching false doctrine of “Once Saved Always Saved.”
Today I would like us to focus our attention to another lie Satan has been able to get so many to think…Morality should be Secondary.
This mindset and “creed” of the world has been around a long time however, it is only in more recent years that...”The world and her evil deeds are seemingly rushing into the blood bought church of our Lord at an alarming rate.” 1.
So how has this lie of Satan manifested itself in the blood bought church?
That is the question we will be answering this morning, and warning against.
Morality
What is morality?
This seems like a simple question to ask and answer and yet so many, even in the church, seem to be misunderstanding it more and more.
The American Heritage Dictionary of 1983 defines it best as “the quality of being moral, a system of conduct based on principles of right and wrong.”
That system of “right and wrong” is that which comes from the Creator of all the universe.
Morality exists because God exists, which is why the psalmist wrote...
The “universal moral law” is proof that God exists.
Why is Adolph Hitler considered “wrong” by most people for what he did?
Because most people understand stand a “universal moral law” concerning the actions of the Holocaust.”
Even atheist don’t doubt Hitler was “morally wrong” for the most part, at least modern atheists.
Thus if there was no God there would be no “universal moral law” that most of society has held to whether fully or partially.
Summery
Morality is that system and basic understanding of right and wrong that God has created within each person.
Morality Is Secondary?
The battle between morality and immorality.
There is no doubt that there is a constant battle between the flesh and the spirit concerning morality and immorality.
Paul would describe it like this...
Rom 7:15
Satan is winning the battle against morality.
In the world morality has taken a back seat for a very long time.
What was once evil, wrong, and even illegal is now considered right, good, and legal.
However, as the world has gone further away from morality more and more children of God are determining that “certain moral standards” are no longer worth heeding against.
I know of some “high profile” preachers and teachers that have taken up the preaching motto “let’s preach more Jesus and less moral issues.”
Many have gone so far as to say we don’t even need preaching on things like homosexuality, social drinking, addictions, and the like.
What they are saying is…morality is secondary to talking about Jesus and salvation.
Is this true?
Can one preach Jesus and not preach on moral issues?
Summery
Many have drank the poison cup of Satan and have listened to his lie on morality so long they think it is truth.
We can convince ourselves lies are truth.
Preaching Jesus
What does it mean to preach Jesus?
There can be no doubt God wants His people to “preach Jesus to everyone.”
There can be no doubt God wants His people to “preach Jesus to everyone.”
The question is can you preach Jesus without preaching on morality?
Preaching Jesus means preaching the whole counsel of God.
No, preaching Jesus does not mean just preaching on the plan of salvation but on the moral issues sometimes “before” the whole plan of salvation.
1 Cor 6:9-
Ac 2:38-
Summery
Jesus said the “the word that I have spoke will judge him on the last day” ().
As we have seen before in God the Father, Son, and Spirit all speak the same Word and it was written down by inspired men…which means if we want to preach Jesus we must preach the whole counsel of God.
Conclusion
Satan deceives and lies his way to the soul of the individual.
It is up to us to not allow Satan to reach our soul with his lies!!!
