What is it all about?

Exploring Biblical context of Marriage...

The Bible begins and ends with marriage (; ).

In between, marriage is a frequent topic.

While stories and metaphors that describe the mutual love of a married couple or the children born to them are easily understood, today’s culture doesn’t seem to hold marriage in the same regard.

We have countless TV shows, apps, social media etc. that are geared towards celebrating love and marriage but the stats still are not promising.

On average, 2.3 million people get marriage per year; approximately 900,000 per year.

The average is around 45-50%.

Though debated, the rate is virtually the same for Christians.

There are many reasons for this but if i were to simplify I would say it is because we stop stewarding it.

Scriptures on Marriage

(ESV) — 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

(ESV) — 18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

Seasons

In order to see fruit, you have to go through seasons

Once thought dormant seasons were a lack of growth

Without tension, there is no balance

Be Fruitful

I often believe we struggle in so many areas of our lives because we complicate how we are to live.

When facing any circumstance, the key to unlock blessing is found in .

(ESV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Practical Fruit

Love

Love is a choice, not a feeling

It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.

7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never ends.

As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.

When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.

Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Love is sacrificial

Joy

There is a difference between happiness and joy.

Happiness is circumstantial, joy is being content through every circumstance

Philippians 4:11–13 (ESV) — 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.

12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound.

In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.

13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Outside situations should never determine joy.Story about car accident and how we had limited resources but we still had joy.
