How many you want to overcome the world?
Have you ever sat and just thought what you could do to possibly make this world a better place?
With all the hatred and jealousy in the world today, we have become a society filled with distrust and a lack of love for one another.
The problem is this same worldly behavior has found its way into the church today all over the world and we need a remedy for it.
I believe the remedy is found in our text today.
I believe the remedy is obedience to the commandments of God.
Obedience to God's commandments is the true display of love for God.

What does it mean to keep God’s commandments?
Keep- to observe, to conform one’s actions or practice to.
You are to conform you life and behavior to God’s commandments.
Commandments- an authoritative direction or instruction to do something; through speech or writing.
What are God’s commandments?
To love God
To love those who are born of God
(ESV) “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
(ESV) And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
God’s Commandments Are Not Hard To Do
God’s commandments are not burdensome.
Burdensome- oppressive, marked by unjust severity or arbitrary behavior.
God is not asking you to do something that too hard.
God is not forcing you to do some despicable act.
It’s not hard to overcome the world when your heart and actions are filled with love for God’s children.
Only those who have accepted Jesus can overcome the world and they do this through obedience to God.

I brought some Christian Brothers with me today.
Because my father loved Christians, He taught me love Christians brothers too.
I need to tell you something about my Christians.
Sometimes it blurs my thinking.
Make say things I ought not say.
It makes me feel bad sometimes, to the point that my head begins ache.
Sometimes I share my Christian Brothers with other
And they make others say things that hurt my feelings
But for some crazy reason, I keep on loving my Christian Brothers
How do you know I still love them?
I keep on spending time with them.
Even though you don’t always treat me right.
I keep on spending my money on them
Even though you don’t always make me feel appreciated
I have a brother who loves me the same way
And His name is Jesus
HE keeps on loving me even though I don’t always treat Him right
But how do I know he still loves me
He died for me yes he did
And everyday he keeps spending time with me
So I working harder to obey God by loving you
Is there anybody in here who loves God?
Then find neighbor, better yet
Find someone who’s hurt you
Someone who’s disappointed you
Don’t be superficial
And tell them I still love you!
