Don’t worry, He’s faithful.
I arrived here in Florida on at about 1:00 in the morning on Saturday with a sermon already prepared to share with you.
But in the time since then current situations in my life caused me to reconsider and share this word with you this morning.
So if it’s alright with yall I’m going to be preaching to my self as I preach to you.
Because the word that I have this morning is a much of a word for me as it is to anybody else.
[Pray]
As most of you know I’m currently studying in seminary.
This has been quite a rewarding journey but it has been quite challenging.
One of the biggest challenges that I’ve had is paying the bills.
It’s not been easy to find a job that pay well, and works with my schedule of being a full-time student.
was blessed to find the job I currently have as a assisitant manager at the clothing store Banana Republic.
Just over a week ago I found myself sitting in my bosses office.
I had just found out the news about my uncle and has devasted by that news to have sit-down meeting with the general manager at my job.
She had texted me just a few days earlier and told me that she needed to talk to me about my role and changes being made at my job that would effect me so I knew to be expecting something.
In our meeting I learned that Banana Republic the clothing store where I am currently a manager will be cutting the part-time managerial role that I serve in.
This felt all too familiar because almost one year before to the date I was laid off from my last job.
Here I was again losing the position that I worked in for factors that had nothing to do with my job perfomance, behavoir or anything to do with me at all.
Last year was a hard year for me.
After losing my job I spent alot of time worrying about how we were going to pay the bills.
I stayed up late many nights trying to figure what I could do fix the situation.
There’s somebody in here today that is struggling with worry.
It may be with about finances and paying the bills just like it was in the past for me.
It may be a sickness that you’re dealing with.
SOmebody in here may be worried about their child that isn’t on the best path right now.
I’m come here this morning to tell you that God cares for you and will provide what it is that you need.
The title of my sermon this morning is:
Don’t worry, He’s faithful.
Today I’m going to challenge you to Put your faith in the character and power of God, instead of worrying.
Let’s look at the text for this mornings sermon
And i’ll be reading from the New Living Translation.
There are 3 things that I want you to walk away from this sermon knowing.
You ain’t God.
God Cares for you
He will provide.
Let’s look at this passage
The first thing that I want you to get from this passage is that and excuse my english You ain’t God.
Normally this is when some pastors tell you to turn to your neighbor and say “You ain’t God”
But I want you to get this point first before we move to any others.
If we truly believe that God is God.
That means that “You ain’t God”
For me it took me into my 3rd year of seminary to get a firm grasp of this truth.
I am not God.
Now you may thing that is arrogant or prideful for me to think that I’m God but many of you operate in this way.
To be more clear on this we could say Yahweh is God.
You see God is not a name but instead a title.
If we say that Yahweh, the God of the bible is God we are saying is that it He that is in control, We are saying that it is HE that is the master, he’s the boss, he’s the one in control.
But how many of us can say that we really live like this?
That what God’s word says is enough?
Not just the ten commandments or the old baptist rules.
But when Jesus said give Cesar was is his .
We not tryna claim our cats and dogs on our taxes.
Or when Jesus says that it’s not what goes into you that defiles you but the things that come out of our mouths that defile.
Aren’t cussing nobody out.
How many can truly say that it is God that is in control of the path of your life?
(Insert other sins)
But when I say you ain’t God let’s look at the text and see why.
Look at Verse 25
Jesus asks the disciples a rhetorical question here.
“Can you add a single moment to your”
I’ve read this passage hundreds if not thousands of times.
I used to have this written on a piece of paper hanging on my wall.
This was back before I was married and needed authorized approval to hang something on my own wall.
But what jumped out to me this time looking at this verse is that we can’t add a single moment to our lives because we ain’t God.
God can add a thousands hours to our lives if He so chooses because he is God.
But we can not.
Because “You ain’t God, I ain’t God, We ain’t God.
He is God alone and because of that He gets to decide our fate.
You see last year though I was studying to be a pastor one day, love God, got baptized right here in this church at the age of 5. I would confess that I there is one God and I was not HIm.
That is not how I was operating.
Most of the time we worry because we think that if we put enough thought and energy into our problems we can change them alone.
WE PLAY GOD
So for me I filled out dozens and dozens of job applications.
I was driving for Uber and Lyft and would stay out driving late nights, and wake up early mornings.
But I would find that things just continued to get worse, I found myself getting really sick to the point that I couldn’t even get out of the bed.
My car broke down with a passenger in the car, which was really embarrassing.
And couldn’t get interviews or ended up getting jobs that were terrible and really really low paying.
This went on from early March until the end of August.
Until I was sitting in church one day, listening to the choir sing and God said something to me that I hope I never forget.
Inside God said “ You need me more than you realize now, or could ever understand”
You see I was worried because I was operating as if I was God.
That His word on the matter which is says here to worry about such things.
I was living as if I wasn’t His child and He wouldn’t provide.
You see my little niece Zendaya doesn’t worry about what she’s going to be eating tomorrow.
Because she has a Dad that is in control and she has faith is going to feed her when she gets hungry.
He need to live in way we don’t worry about any of the troubles that we are faced with in our lives.
Not because they are not real because I know that they are.
But we have a Dad that is control and is going to take care of us.
So my first point to remember is that “ You ain’t God”
My second reason Why you should stop worrying and trust God is because he cares for you.
luke 12:27-
To get an idea of how fly Solomon we need to understand who Solomon was.
Not only was Solomon the son of King David.
The King that built the first Temple for God.
But in is says that Kind Solomon was the richest of the kings on the earth.
I saw this stat online that did an estimate of what Solomon’s net worth would be translated into today’s term is says he would be worth approximately 2.1 TRILLION dollars.
This Black man worth about 2.1 trillion dollars we know he was for the younger people on fleek, for the people my age he was stunting, for the older generation he was styling and profiling.
But the text says that even he was dressed as beautifully as the lillies of the field that did nothing to work for there beauty.
If God cares about them, how much more does he care about you.
Look at verse 24
If God takes the time to take care of Ravens.
