THRIVE

We have an annual theme in our office and last year it was DICI.......A year of tightening and improving procedures and systems and developing our people and their roles.

It was a hard year.

We drilled down on everything.

We didn't want that our staff to be come overwhelmed by it all and we had to be careful to communicate that what we were doing was like road works, necessary but temporary.

Nobody likes road works, they hold things up, slow things down and things look messy for a while but without them things start break down

Everyone worked really hard and no one left us........so it was a win!! (actually one left us)

This year we wanted to make sure we capitalized on all the hard work from last year.

So this year we have a new theme ........THRIVE

e had to be careful to communicate to our staff that this is only road works and not the norm, it was only temporary for a bigger purpose.

It was a hard year, but really important time in our business, preparing and strengthening our people and systems

and it was exactly that!

Road works are necessary but temporary, you don't want to stay there.

Road works are only carried out to improve efficencies to get where you want to go safer and faster, you don't want to be going over things all the time, you want to make progress and get on with what it is that we're here to do, build homes

but who knows you don't want to stay there.

we want to now that were going to be able to capitilise on all the hard work from last year

This year we have a Theme........THRIVE

and we asked our staff a question

If we can't say that after this day as well as the other leadership stuff we do that it makes your life then we are waisting our time

Life can be hard.

There is no silver bullet but we can choose to Thrive

So this year we have a new theme ........THRIVE

If we can highlight the areas we want to thrive in and work on, invest and influence those areas we will Thrive.

Is it a guarantee?

no, but you can guarantee that if you don’t work on, invest and influence those areas the natural way of things is for them to breakdown

We asked our staff a question......

”Who wants to THRIVE and who wants to just Survive?”

Who wants to THRIVE and who wants to just survive?

The reason we asked this is because, who knows working hard isn't all that it takes to succeed in life,

Many of us work really hard just to survive

Its amazing, no body ever puts their hand up and says, no I just want to survive!

So the next question needs to be asked

“Are we willing to do what it takes to THRIVE?"

Just surviving is what we all do in hard times to get by, its like road works, but you don't want to live there.....

No body wants to just Survive, everybody wants to THRIVE, but are we doing what it takes?

Everything is based on relationships

Surviving is a natural instinct, Thriving is a deliberate behavior.......We have to choose to Thrive or we’ll just survive!

Lets look at what it means to.....Survive

Why are we doing this

If I’m honest there have been many times in our time in business and life where Nat and I have worked really hard.....Just to survive

We have all made great achievements, but some times it feels like 2 steps forwards one step back.

Life can be this way but it’s not where we should live

The first thing i think we need to do is be honest.

Looking over all the areas of our businesses and lives and evaluating

“Where am I thriving and where am i just surviving.... or worse”

I woudl say we have just survived more than we have THRIVED

Today were going to look at some areas that will help us evaluate where we’re up to and give is try to get a bit of clarity for what’s normal and what we need to adjust

Firstly......

KNOW YOUR SEASON

Thriving is not about being perfect in every area, Its about Thriving in the season your in

A tree in winter has no leaves, but

Thriving is about being healthy in your season.

There are seasons where everything is blooming and seasons where there’s not a leaf in sight.

A tree with no leaves in winter is still a healthy tree no matter what it looks like.

It’s when that same tree still has no leaves in spring and summer that we start to wonder how healthy the tree is.

Thriving, is living out the seasons of your life in a way that protects and prepares you for the next season.

Then making the best of what comes

No body is perfect in any area or season, but we can all make the choices necessary to give our selves every chance to ThrivE

Things are not where they used to be but were not where we want to be

We could stand here and say how great this year is going to be, how hard we have worked and now everything is just going to fall into place, but who knows life doesn't work like that

There is a scripture that says that we can have a life above and beyond what you have ever hoped dreamed or imagined

This year there is drought, 2 major elections and finance issues

We can't put out head in the sand, but I'm not going to be the cause of the more issues, we're going to plan to THRIVE and plan for success

I heard a great saying a while back

“Hope is not a Strategy”

We cant just hope everything will be OK.....If we want to THRIVE, we have to have a plan and carry it out

Its not about being perfect, its about doing something

Where do you need to be better?

What’s coming that you need to prepare for?

What do we need to stop doing, what do we need to start doing?

One of the biggest obstacles we face is our selves

We believe that you and your families can live that kind of life

We can THRIVE in every season, if we stay focused and positive

Is it a guarantee, no, but I can guarantee if you don’t stay focused and positive you succeed and you wont THRIVE

We could stand here and say how great this year is going to be, how hard we have worked and now everything is just going to fall into place, but who knows life doesn't work like that
