The Patience of God is Salvation December 17, 2017
“The end of a thing is better than its beginning” (). It is easy in our pride to run to a conclusion confident that you know and understand every-thing clearly. Yet our God is a God of patience (). He is slow to an-ger and abundant in mercy (). We see God’s patience and longsuffering nature in the person of our Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus followed a script that was written in the Word of God for a thousand years before His birth. The gospel writers made clear that Jesus was obeying His Father in heaven ().
I. Birth
A. His mother
1. Was a virgin – – fulfilling
2. His birth in Bethlehem – – fulfilling
B. He would be a refugee in Egypt – – fulfilling
1. The baby boys under two would be slaughtered – – fulfilling
2. A Nazarene (or Nazarite) – – fulfilling
II. Ministry
A. His ministry was primarily in Galilee – – fulfilling
1. He would heal many – – fulfilling
2. He would minister in gentleness, as a bruised reed. He would bring hope to the nations – – fulfilling
B. He would teach in parables
1. To reveal and conceal truth – – fulfilling
2. To teach with childlike simplicity – – fulfilling
III. Death
A. Triumphal Entry – – fulfilling
B. Conflict – – fulfilling
1. Do not think I came to bring peace but a sword – – fulfilling
2. Disciples would scatter – – fulfilling
3. Betrayed by his friend – – fulfilling and
C. Abandoned by the Father – – fulfilling
D. Resurrected by the Father – – quoting
Rejoice that God is a God of patience – Today is the day of salvation! Repent and Believe – the end of the gospel is better than the beginning!
