1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

2 We all stumble in many ways.

If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.

4 Or take ships as an example.

Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.

5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.

Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.

It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man,

8 but *no man can tame the tongue*.

It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.

10 *Out of the same mouth* come praise and cursing.

My brothers, this should not be.

11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from *the same spring*?

12 My brothers, can a fig-tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?

Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

/(In natural things it does not work, why do you think in our lives it will work?)/

13 Who is wise and understanding among you?

Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

14 But if you harbour bitter envy and selfish ambition *in your hearts*,(The source) do not boast about it or deny the truth.

15 *Such "wisdom"* does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.

·      We come to think that what we have is a special window to truth that no one else sees.

We think it is wisdom from God!

16 For where you have *envy and selfish ambition*, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

17 *But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.*

18* Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness*.

·      This is an example of this kind of wisdom from the earth!

*Matt 15:1-20*

1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2 Why do thy disciples transgress* the tradition of the elders*?

for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

3 But he answered and said unto them*, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?* 4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free.

Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: 11* Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.* 12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him/, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?/

13 But he answered and said*, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.* 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind.

And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18 *But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man*.

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

20 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and *with the increase of his lips* (with the Harvest of what he plants) shall he be filled.

Matt 6:24

24 "No-one can serve two masters.

Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.

You cannot serve both God and Money.
