Matthew 6:19-24 “Kingdom Treasure” Pastor Jeff Jowers

Defining Treasure (vs19-21)

Worldly treasure disappears and fails to help in eternity (Luke 12:15-21).

Heavenly treasure will never wear out or be destroyed.

We are to live understanding the eternal is more important than the temporal.

Your heart will always be set in one direction or the other.

Guarding our Hearts (vs22-23)

In understanding the heart, we need to understand the importance of our eyes (Proverbs 4:23).

We have to use our eyes for what brings us into understanding and valuing the kingdom of God.

Our eyes are meant to bring us to light and never pull us into darkness.

The best way to guard our hearts is by fixing our eyes on what is really treasure.

Serving our Master (vs24)

One of the great lies of our time is that we can have two masters/two treasures.

Jesus’ message of repentance has an exclusive claim to your heart.

In the end, you will follow what you really love.

We must make a choice of what we really treasure and who we really follow.
