As disciples of Jesus, we remain as signs of Jesus Mercy and Love in this evil generation. Sometimes we want to fight back; and we should, in speaking the truth in love, and fight back in prayer spiritual warfare and corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

Intro
In our first reading Jonah is going around Nineveh as a sign of Judgment calling people to repent, they do and are saved.
Body
In the Gospel as the crowd gather around Jesus says this generation is evil because it seeks a sign, and no o sign will be given except the sign of Jonah. Because there is a greater one than Jonah in their presence. Himself, Jesus Son of God incarnate the Messiah is greater than all created beings.
Also in a greater sense because Mercy triumphs over Judgment. Jonah a sign of repentance resulting from fear of Judgment- there is no Love in fear. Jesus a sign of Mercy and Love the promised Messiah calling people to repent and they do not believe him, asking for a sign. Again Jesus in the Gospel says at the Judgment I will be standing there as a sign of Mercy and Love that this evil generation rejected.
