1 John 3:17–21 NIV
If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God
1 John 3:17 NIV
If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?

Introduction

These books of the Bible serve as letters in series of 6 test. the test are to give proof that on really loves God. We have to ask ourselves,

1. Do we really love God?

2. Are we marked by love?

3. Is love the chief Characteristic of our lives?

4. Do we love one another?

God is love, therefore If we love God, we are bound to love one another. In fact, since God is love, it is absolutely impossible to love God and not love one another.

If you truly have the marl of love on you, it can be seen a mile away.

This is what the writer meant in 1 john 2:10 when he recorded:

1 John 2:10 ESV
Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.

1. Be Compassionate

Put yourself in place the of others

1 John 3:17a ESV
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?

We are not promised to always be up on our feet and doing well. If we honest about it, the ones we come in contact with are dealing with the same thing we were dealing with when we we’re down.

1. No Money

2. No Food

3. No Clothes

4. Depression

5. Low self Esteem

But O for the Grace of God that we had a defining moment in our lives where he saved a wrecth like you and me and we have the unmidigated gual to get grand??? HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!

IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR THE LORD ON MY SIDE WHERE WOUL I BE!!!!!

2

2. Be Candor or Show Certitude

Don’t be fake, phony, and fickle, but be a faithful friend.

1 John 3:18 ESV
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

I learned that we like to sound good.

1. If you need me call me.

2. Don’t worry about it, I got you!

3. I love you and ain’t a thing you can do about it!

Proverbs 27:6 ESV
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.

John says, Talk is Cheap! It sounds good and we a have come so adapt to saying these things it just seems like the norm, But the text says in deed and truth!!! Don’t love the word and tongue, thats just Lips Service, but love in deed and in truth.

You remember the Song:

I need you, you need me, we’re all apart of God’s body, stand with me agree with me, we’re all apart of God’s body, It is his will that every need be supplied you are important to me I nee you to survive!!

When the Love of God is shed abroad in our hearts we act differently towards others, come here Paul:

Romans 5:5 ESV
and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

3. Be Consecrated

1 John 3:19–21 ESV
By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
1 john 3:19-

The manifestation of Biblical Love in our life is the evidence that we truly belong to Christ.

Love is never conveyed through the head, but through the heart!!! Watch people who tell you, You we’re on my mind! I don’t want to be on your mind, I wanna be on your heart!

There are many who brag about their faith in God and have never activated their faith to aide another! watch what James says:

James 2:14–17 ESV
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

You can talk until you’re blue in the face:

You can Debate and defend your views

You can be an intellectual Giant, But if what you believe is not real enough to motivate you to good works, its all dead!!!!

The Bible speaks of a crowd such as this: “EVER LEARNING, AND NEVER ABLE TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.

4. Be Christlike
